Your Nickle Ain't Worth My Dime by Sleeping with Sirens

I'm trying to keep updating regularly as usual even though I'm very depressed.

Ricky's POV

A few hours have passed since I had coffee with Daphne. I held the crinkled napkin with her number scrawled across it in my hand, contemplating whether or not I should call her yet. I wasn't very experienced with this. I wasn't sure whether I should call her right away or give it a day or two.

After a few minutes of pondering the situation, I decided to wait until tonight to call her. I didn't want to seem too desperate.

In the meantime, I headed over to Connor's room to make things right. I knocked on the door softly. I heard the door unlock and the door opened to reveal Amy standing there with her hair messed up. That caused me to jump to conclusions. My eyes widened, but I took a deep breath and managed to calm myself down. Amy seemed pretty surprised to see me.

"Oh," she spoke. "Hey Ricky."

"Uh, hey. Can I come in?"

She turned and gave Connor a look, silently asking for permission. He merely nodded and Amy stepped aside to let me in. I walked in and sat on the edge of the bed as Amy sat beside Connor.

"Ricky...what's up?" Connor asked, surprised.

"Did you guys...you know?" I asked.

Amy's eyes widened in shock. "No! Not that it's any of your business, but no!"

"What the hell?!" Connor shouted.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry! I know I really crossed the line asking that," I quickly explained.

Connor protectively put his arm in front of Amy. "Yeah, you really did."

"I'm seriously sorry about that. But anyway, that's not what I came here to talk to you guys about."

"Well what did you come here to talk to us about then?" Amy asked.

I sighed. "I just want to let you guys know that I'm really happy for you both, you know with you guys being together and all."

"Okay?" Connor replied.

"And that I really do miss hanging out with you, Connor. You're one of my best friends for crying out loud."

Connor nodded. "I actually miss you too, Ricky."

"And I also miss being on good terms with you, Amy."

She smiled. "Me too."

"Oh and one last thing," I stated.

Amy raised her eyebrows.

"I met someone today!" I exclaimed. "We really seemed to hit it off!"

Amy gasped causing me to immediately focus my gaze on her. She had a huge smile on her face and next thing I knew, she was jumping on me and hugging me. I laughed and hugged her back.

"Ricky, that's great! I'm so happy for you!" she shrieked, still squeezing me.

She finally released from the hug and sat next to Connor again.

"Thanks."

"What's her name?" she questioned.

"Daphne."

"Oh that's such a cute name! where'd you meet her?"

"Barnes & Noble."

Amy made a confused face. "Barnes & Noble?" she asked flatly.

"Yeah..."

"You read?"

"Sometimes."

She rolled her eyes and gave me a look.

I raised my hands up in defense. "Okay, okay, I just went there to find some at least slightly intelligent girls."

Amy laughed out loud and gave me a high-five. I glanced over at Connor, who was giving me a smirk.

"So what happened?" he asked, still smirking.

"Well she bumped into me and dropped all of her stuff. Me, being the amazing guy I am," I explained, running my fingers through my hair, "Helped her pick everything up and we ended up bumping heads as we tried to reach for the same CD," I explained. "And somehow I got the courage to ask her to have coffee with me."

"Aww!" Amy shouted.

"Did you get dat numba?!" Connor screamed jokingly, smirking.

"I did!" I yelled, holding up the napkin.

"Good job, man!"

"When are you going to call her?!" Amy exclaimed.

I shrugged. "Probably later tonight."

"No, call her now!" Amy urged.

"Ricky, trust me, don't call her now," Connor warned. "Wait it out. Give it a week."

"A week?!" Amy argued. "Why a week?"

"So Ricky doesn't seem too desperate!"

"It's desperate to call a girl the same day she gave you her number?"

"Kinda."

Amy rolled her eyes. "Ricky, don't listen to him. Connor doesn't know anything," she said playfully.

"Oh I don't know anything?" he asked, smiling. "Well that's false. I know things about girls."

"Do you, now?"

"I got you to be my girlfriend, didn't I?"

Amy smiled and within seconds, Connor was pulling her lips to his. I just sat there awkwardly as they were making out. My eyes trailed to his neck and I noticed a small reddish-purple bruise-like mark. Then my eyes widened.

"Connor, is that a hickey?"

They stopped kissing and Connor's face turned red and Amy was hiding hers with her hands. Connor rubbed the back of his neck nervously and nodded, smiling slightly.

"Wow," was all I could say.

Amy finally moved her head out of her hands and she was blushing.

"Well anyway... I think I'll just call Daphne in a few days. Thanks for your help I guess," I said, awkwardly.

Leave it to me to make every situation awkward. Good one, Ricky.

Amy's POV

Ricky thanked us and left the room quickly. Well that ended awkwardly.

"Ricky is the king of making things awkward," Connor said.

I laughed quietly. "Yeah, he is."

"But I'm happy that he seems to be moving on," Connor added. "I really do miss hanging out with him."

I nodded. "And it's nice to see him happy."

Connor nodded and we sat in comfortable silence for a while.

"Come here," Connor finally said.

I smiled and got closer to him and cuddled into his chest as his arms wrapped around me.

"You're so beautiful," he whispered into my hair.

I blushed.

"Look at me," he whispered.

I looked up into his eyes and he looked into mine.

"I love you," he told me.

"I love you too," I replied.

It was honestly pretty hard to write this. I only cried twice though. I'll try to keep updating as much as I can, but I'm not sure how frequently. The main thing keeping me going is that I love writing.
