Madeline Osborn twisted and turned in the sheets of blankets. It felt like her night would finally be peaceful. No more bad thoughts inside her head, no more voices telling her that she can't control her new ability. But, they just came back all over again.

These were still the same, snake-like, evil, voices that sounded like nails scratching on a chalkboard. Her head was pounding like a bunch of drums and her ears were ringing inside her nightmare.

Looking around, there was nothing, just complete and total pitch black. The voices came from all around her, hammering her into the ground as they screamed,
"You'll hurt him. You'll hurt him. You'll hurt him."

"I won't. . ." she mumbled, sweat dripping from her forehead, "I won't."

Then, as if someone had pulled away the echoing voices all at once, she was left with deafening silence.

She's gotten used to hearing them all for eight months now and the fact that she couldn't hear anything was beginning to drive her mad.

"- -Get away!" A woman's voice screamed from behind, which made the girl's heart almost stop.

There, sitting on the sea of black ground, was Aunt May holding a lifeless body in her arms. Tears ran down her from her eyes and dirt covered her wrinkling features. Her medium-length hair was tasseled and her tan skin had bruises along her cheekbones.

"Stay away. . ." She cried, and sobbed into the body's chest. It didn't take long for the girl to realize the body was none other than Peter Parker.

His eyes were shut closed with no trace of them ever opening again. The clothes he wore were torn and blood seeped through in some areas. His perfect face was littered with cuts and burn patches along with his arms and legs.

Adrenaline coursed through to Madeline's heart. A gutted feeling sat in her chest and rose into her throat. She wasn't able to speak. She instead threw herself down on the floor next to May, sobbing with a hand covering her mouth.

"It's your fault. All your fault!" The broken woman repeated.

The girl shook her head in protest, tears streaming down her face as she lifted up a hand near May's arm. But before she could touch it, her skin slowly started to turn grainy and black.

Her arm turned into tiny particles of ash, slowly starting to fade away in the darkness. It traveled up all over her body and her expression was the same as the boy's in her lap—dead.

"M-May," the girl called out but she received no reply.

Then, all at once, the image of the woman was gone and all that was left was Peter's body lying on the floor. But he wouldn't be there for long.
