••••••• Friday 6:52am
Madeline spins slowly in her stool at the kitchen counter, staring at her hands in a daze. Bandages covered her entire palms all the way up to her fingers.
Her burns from the hot water had almost healed thanks to May's Aloe Vera and lotion treatment. But she were too skeptic on letting the girl touch anything without it bursting into flames so the bandages were just a precaution.
It had already happened once. When night fell, another one of her horrible nightmares came to visit. She was resting on the top bunk in Peter's room, finding it to be much more comfortable than the couch while the boy finished up his homework he missed.
Peter only realized she was having a nightmare when he felt like the temperature in his room turned all the way up to 114 degrees and he heard mumbling, tossing, and turning.
It only got hotter and hotter when he failed to shake her to wake up. Eventually his forehead was covered in sweat and his breathing was unstable. But once Madeline did wake up, she realized what she was doing subconsciously and rushed him out of the room to try and lower his body temperature just as he was on the brink of passing out.
After that, the two were more than cautious when it came to taking care of Madeline Osborn. Her hands were protected and wrapped with bandages 24/7 but the only problem was the nightmares. She didn't know how to stop them, so she barely slept at all after that.
She ate her breakfast slowly on this Friday morning, feeling exhausted and desperately craving sleep. Her eyes began to falter as she ate a bowl of Fruit Loops but she tried to stay awake anyhow.
"Crap, crap, crap. . ." The girl hears from behind and turns over her shoulder sleepily.
Peter was seen darting around the apartment. He hurriedly stumbled around the living room and puts on a plain blue t-shirt over his head. While he slipped it on, for a small second, Maddie spotted a glimpse of his amazingly toned abs and choked on her cereal.
Well. She was awake now.
She throws a coughing fit and gulps down a glass of orange juice to soothe her throat.
"You good?" He asked her, some of his damp hair falling in front of his eyes as he comes up to her side, looking worried as always.
She waves him off, "No—yeah, just some juice went down the wrong way. I'm fine." Totally not though. I didn't expect. . .that.
Peter nods, looking distracted at the clock on the microwave as he pulled his freshly showered, damp hair back in frustration. His bangs that were usually gelled and styled to the side were now hanging down in a messy style as he ran his fingers through it.
Madeline's breath almost hitched in her throat when he did this and the orange juice she gulped down almost went the wrong way for real. She knew he was attractive in his own adorable and cute way, but seeing him like this was a surprise.
