•••••• December 25th 1:28am
She woke up in a haze of sleep, eyelids feeling like tons weight and the fanlight above seeming like the beating hot sun.
Madeline's whole body was stiff and sore and she could barely feel her toes move. She was sitting on a chair, arms folded and head resting on top of a comfy surface.
The girl's eyes looked around, spotting an IV stand dripping of fluids and a heartbeat monitor to the side. She remembered this bed, this room. It was Peter's. She was back in HQ.
She winced when she went to sit up. Her head spiraling for a moment as she moved a hand up to her head. The sun poured through the curtains in front of her and she blinked to adjust to the light.
The girl only then noticed the body breathing on the bed next to her. Peter was laying down, his eyes closed and hair messed up in different places. He must've slept pretty good.
The bandage patch on his shoulder was wrapped securely around his shoulder and torso, and he wore nothing but his own pajama pants.
The girl smiled up at him and gently placed a hand upon his own. She traced circles around his knuckles and felt the callouses on his palms.
Out of everything about him, she mostly loved his hands. The way he held her own protectively walking down a street, the warm touch she felt whenever he'd cup her cheek, the way he'd massage her back when they'd hug. It was all a matter of euphoria and comfort for her.
Missing those moments, she carefully brought his hand up to the side of her face and closed her eyes. She imagined him awake, caressing her cheek lovingly like he'd always do while getting lost in her eyes.
'Do you know how gorgeous you are?,' he'd cheekily say and the girl would giggle in blushes.
Oh, how she adored him when he slept like a baby. This was the only time where he seemed at peace rather than living a chaotic life.
It didn't last that long though, he mumbled out a few words and stirred awake. The girl inhaled and put his hand back to where it was and smiled warmly.
His eyelids slowly opened and adjusted to the afternoon lights as he then realized she was awake as well.
"Morning Sleeping Beauty," She giggled at the surprised expression he wore.
"Morning," He said breathlessly, holding back a happy smile at the sight of her adoring eyes. "Oh my God, hi." He started rambling, voice with worry as he sat up from the bed. "You okay? How're you feeling—?"
Peter immediately seethed in air quick as a shot of pain in his shoulder made his body twitch. Madeline got up from her seat and sat on the side of the bed, putting a hand on his other shoulder to stop him from moving.
