What happens after you die?

Do you become reborn again? Would you be judged upon and thrown to whichever side best suits you?

Madeline Osborn didn't really have a say in what happens after you die, probably because she didn't expect to anyhow.

The term 'weightless' couldn't even begin to describe how she felt as she opened her eyes to the surroundings of a void. She felt no pain, no sorrow, no sadness or anything. It was like she could stare down at her feet but not feel anything underneath.

She didn't know where she was, nor did she care. But something did catch her eye. A structure held up by four columns stood in the horizon not too far away from her. The water-like ground reflected the structure off and in between the two middle columns stood the figure of a slim woman.

Her back was turned, long dark brown hair went down her back freely. She was wearing what seemed to be a long white sleeping gown and her feet wore no shoes.

Madeline looked down at herself, seeing she was wearing a grey cardigan, white denim shorts, and a simple, flowy tank top. She tried walking, seeing her own reflection on the ground.

As she took a step, the water rippled and made her reflection unseeable. Madeline looked to the temple once again, walking slowly towards it with not a care in the world.

She knew who this woman was and felt relief. It's been four years of not seeing her, but it felt just like yesterday when she saw her life slip away on a hospital bed.

The woman didn't move once Madeline came up beside her. She instead kept staring off in the horizon in a bliss of serenity.

The girl turned her head, looking at her mother who was still as beautiful as she remembered.
Wrinkles appeared next to her sea blue eyes that inherited down to Madeline as she smiled warmly. Her smile. It was the only thing that made Madeline feel better on horrible days as a child.

Her mother puts a gentle arm around her shoulder, making the girl lean into her comfortably.

She took in the warmth around her, and breathed in air pure like it was from the mountains. When a presence came to her left, and large hand touched her shoulder.

She looked up and saw her father, his normal tired and worn out look now erased. Instead he too wore a content expression. He was dressed in a white button up and grey suit pants, the only time she's ever seen him in somewhat casual clothes.

Another person with a straight face came from behind.
His mother took his hand in hers, his skin perfectly healthy and clean and his body didn't look like he was starving anymore. His head was full of dark brown hair, no empty patches were seen.

Harry looked to his little sister and gave her a playful smirk, one she'd see only before he was sick. She remembered playing tricks on their Dad every once and awhile and laughing for hours on end with their mother cooking dinner.

It almost seemed like this was her complete ending, but something in her gut told her something was missing.

Her doubts were casted off when she spotted three figures walking towards them in the distance. The two adults she didn't recognize, one had glasses and grey hair, the other was a woman with chestnut brown locks and a sweet smile.

They held the hands of the teenager in the middle of them. Brown hair naturally curly, wearing a grey t-shirt and jeans— he looked up at the family standing below the structure. His dark doe eyes widened when he saw Madeline, breathtaking as he remembered and he let go of his parent's hands in shock.

He began walking towards Madeline, not believing it was her, just as she started running to him. He matched her pace, almost stumbling over himself get to her.

Once the two met finally, the girl threw herself onto Peter and he caught her up in his arms. She clutched the soft fabric of his shirt and started crying tears of joy into his shoulder. He held both sides of her face when she pulled away. He just wanted to take one look into her eyes blue and green eyes again after so long of not seeing them up close.

The girl couldn't help but smile at his in-awe expression. His eyes started watering as he let out an almost sobbing chuckle at the sight of her smile.

She knew this couldn't be real. This place and seeing her parents again couldn't be real.

Maybe this was a figment of imagination or a dream. Maybe she'd wake up and see Natasha, wearing their battle gear, aching in pain again with Peter not by her side anymore.

All she knew was that she never wanted it this end.
