7:49pm
After almost two hours of nonstop giggling and running around the streets for candy in neighborhoods, the two teens—along with a trudging Happy—go down the sidewalk with bags full of treats.
"Okay, okay, favorite chocolate?"
"Mm, I think Almond Joy is pretty good."
Peter lifts up his mask from his head and stops her with a shocked face, "are you insane? Of all things, Almond Joy is your favorite?"
She scoffs with a smile, "it's good to me at least!"
"But it's the most bland candy ever! It has too much nuts to be good!"
"Wha—no it doesn't."
"Snickers, I understand, but Almond Joy- -?!"
"- -Hey, Spider-ling, mask," Happy points to him with a stern look a few feet behind them.
"Copy," Peter groans and pulls his mask back down to hide his face while the girl giggles.
The two keep walking until it seems like all the porch lights in the neighborhood of Manhattan we're out and people were wrapping up.
"Damn," the boy sighs at the houses, "people just get more and more lazy over the years."
"Less candy for us," Maddie pouts and looks at her bag.
"Yeah. Hey, want me to carry that?"
"Nah, you'd just steal some."
"What?! I would not steal—. . .yeah, you're probably right."
Madeline giggles and takes the opportunity to hold his free hand. She naturally walks closer to him and rests her head on his shoulder a bit.
"How was tonight?" He hums and glanced down at the girl who looked content and happy.
"Relieving. I finally got to get out of that marble hangar and breathe New York again. It's nice."
"You sure? Still smells like smoke and one month old hot dogs to me."
"Hey, I happen to like it, leave me alone."
Peter chuckled and commented, "You're so weird. First Almond Joy, now rotten onions- -"
"- -You wont let that go will you?"
"Nope, not in a million. . ."
Peter trails off his words and Madeline noticed his walking beginning to slow down to a halt. She lifted her head off his shoulder and looked up at his mask covered face. The whites of his Spider-Man eyes were wide open in alarm and he was staring at a house that had it's lights off.
"That's Ned's house," he said in barely a whisper. Peter wondered if he was home. Maybe he was handing out treats with his mom. Who am I kidding, he's probably hanging out with the gang.
"Do you. . .wanna say hi?"
"I. . .I want to but. .what if he freaks out. I haven't talked to him in two months, what if he hates me."
"Mm, I doubt it- -"
"- -Hey, you kids getting tired or something? I ain't carrying one of you," Happy comes up to them but Maddie didn't want him around. She knew they weren't aloud to speak to anyone else but this might be important for Peter.
"Um, actually, Haps, I forgot my. . .ibuprofen in the car and it's kinda important. Lady business, you know?"
