When Madeline walked in the HQ labs, she assumed Tony had called her in to upgrade her fire-proof gloves.
Instead, she was met with three sets of staring eyes as she walked in.
Tony and Dr. Cho we're talking under their breath and stopped to see the girl look at them weirdly. She knew inside that they were talking about her, there was a gut feeling.
But once she glanced at Peter, his sad eyes met hers and she huffed out a shaky breath.
The girl looked away and immediately felt like walking out. She didn't know he'd be here.
The room was silent and she stood there by the door.
"Why am I here?" She demanded and felt a sickness bubble inside her stomach with the presence of Peter watching her as if she were an injured deer.
Tony walked up to her with his arms crossed and a stern expression on his face, like a father would look to a rebel child.
"You tell me," He nonchalantly shrugged, "what happened to what I said about keeping the gloves on until we found a way to cure you?"
"Oh God," she sighed, "it was just to see what I could do. And to be honest, I did pretty damn good."
"Yeah," he sneered, "your baking stunt that turned into Kitchen Nightmares was certainly 'damn good', wasn't it?"
Madeline started to get irritated all over again. What was it with him? How did the all-famous egocentric billionaire turn into a strict father?
"Mr. Stark, she did not come all the way down here to argue," Dr. Cho acknowledged, "work it out later, but we have to tell her what's going on."
Tony finally groaned in his throat annoyingly, motioning a hand to Maddie for her to meet up around the lab table of scattered documents and papers.
"Miss Osborn, I want you to tell me what you see here," Cho said and moved a hologram screen toward her direction. She sat down in a stool across from Cho and beside Tony as she looked at the screen.
A little head tilt, and she recognized the strange patterns and shapes to become what looked like different chains of twisting ladders.
"Double helix DNA?"
"Yes. This is what a standardized human's DNA would look like up close. Notice how each nitrogenous base is pair up with another?"
