Chapter 22

[VANESSA'S POV]
I wake up with Madelaine sleeping in my arms. I look at the time and see that it's a little past three. "Fuck." I mutter before moving Madelaine off of me.

   I go to the kitchen to make her a quick meal before I leave. I don't think I should leave her here alone. At least not yet. I make a small meal and get her medicine as well. I set it on a tray to take it to her. "Babe," I say shaking her gently. She groans and stretches awake. "Good afternoon beautiful." I smile. She blushes and sits up against the headboard. "Morning." She says with her raspy morning voice. "I made you some food." I say handing her the tray. "Thank you." She smiles.

   I sit next to her and watch her eat. "Mads, I have to go to an interview. Do you want me to invite Travis over?" I ask. She frowns at that. "You're leaving?" She asks sadly. "Yes, but only for a bit. I will come right back." I reassure.

   She starts to play with her ring. I've noticed that nervous habit. I can't tell if she's trying to make herself believe I'm telling the truth, or if it just makes her feel safe. I grab her hand and kiss her knuckles. "Promise." I whisper. She gives me a small smile. "Okay. Go get ready then. You need to leave soon." Madelaine says pushing me off the bed.

   I get off the bed and go to Madelaine's closet. I pick out random clothes and throw them on. I go to the bathroom to brush my teeth and hair.

   I take Madelaine's empty tray of food to the kitchen, and call Travis. "Hey Travis." I say. "What's up?" He asks. "Can you come watch Madelaine for me?" I ask eagerly. "Yeah, I'll be there in five." He says hanging up the phone.

   I put on my shoes and find my purse. As I walk into the living room I hear a knock. I open the door to an excited Travis. "Hey Travis. Thank you so much. I really got to go. Please feed Madelaine dinner if I'm not back before seven." I say leading him to a sleeping Madelaine. I imagine she is still tired from shooting. "Yeah of course." He smiles. I give Madelaine a quick kiss on the head before hugging Travis. "Thank you, again. Please call me if something happens." I plead. He nods and with that I leave the house.

   I get into Madelaine's car quickly. Where the hell am I supposed to be going? I get my phone and call my manager. I ask him where my interview is. He gives me my destination and I put it into the gps. I look at the time. 4:17. Shit. I drive to the interview as fast as I can without getting pulled over.

   I run into the building and my manager yells at me immediately. "You're late!" He says. "I know. I'm sorry. Shooting was running till early this morning and I woke up late." I say tiredly. "Okay." He says snapping for my makeup artist. I sit in my chair and my makeup artist does my makeup quickly.

   They lead me to set and I sit in my chair patiently. The interviewer introduces herself and sits next to me in a separate chair. She seems nice. This can't be too bad.

   We start the interview with a few questions about Riverdale. They went by rather quickly. She then started asking about Shannara. Soon after she started asking me personal questions which I happily answered. But there is one question that catches me off guard.

   "We've been told by an insider that you have a girlfriend. Is this true or just a rumor?" She asks curiously. My mouth immediately goes dry. "Uh did they say who it was?" I ask worriedly. She shakes her head. Thank god. "Who's the insider?" I ask getting aggravated. Why the fuck would someone just say my personal business to others? "We didn't get a name but they apparently work at the bank you use." She says. That bitch. "So it's true you have a girlfriend?" She asks again.

   I could talk about Madelaine without them knowing it's Madelaine, right? I nod my head slowly. "How's that going?" She asks. "It's going really good. She's so amazing. She's just perfect. I love her so much." I say honestly. She beams at that. "How long have you two been together?" She asks. "We've known each other for a few years but we've been dating for almost two weeks." I smile.
