"Hello? Hey! Elizabeth it's Ha-Uncle Hank. Did your father tell you the news yet or am I gonna have to?" My uncle asks me over the phone.
I was walking home from work when my phone started to buzz from an incoming call from my uncle, this rarely happens. Uncle hank was what my dad would say "Fun until someone brings beer" type.
Don't get me wrong though! Hank is a fairly decent uncle, but one who never calls again...
"Uh no, what's up?" I ask confused.
"Your fathers staying with me in Detroit for a few months, he says he has a job opportunity or some bullshit...REALLY what I'm trying to say is pack your crap and get ready to for the trip." Hank says.
My eyes widen at how sudden this was, really? As soon as I found a stable Fine arts job we have to leave L.A?
Great.
"Um Hank that's great? But when?" I ask and hear him sigh and hang up. Wonderful.
I open the house door with my keys and barge in. "DAD! Dad! I'm home, just got a call from Uncle hank too! Um...What the fuck?" I blurt our happy to be at home.
I hear him chuckling in the kitchen cooking something. "Hey kiddo, how was work?" He asks me and I plop myself on the couch exhausted.
"Great, I sold 3 paintings for less than I intended to sell them for. All 3 of them." I sigh.
"So I guess you heard about your uncle and I huh? Yeah I got promoted at work but their transferring me to Detroit, instead of having to take time to sell the house I'd figure we stay with Hank. He's doing well and didn't care when I asked." My dad explains.
"Really? Cause he seemed more hungover than we'll to me." I remark.
"Hey! Don't be making those jokes when we're there ok?" My dad scolds me.
"Yeah yeah don't worry. So when are we leaving?" I ask.
"Oh we're leaving tonight."
