Meanwhile with Mark, the boys had all already fallen asleep leaving Mark the only one awake at this point. He snuck quietly over to his horse that he had left fully tacked up for later that night. During the small little search and rescue mission to get Jack back he had met a nice girl named Amy. They talked for a few seconds and agreed to talk more later that evening while her father and sister were having their discussion or at least while they were sleeping. Mark had agreed to meet up with her in a clearing not far from Armadillo. He was now waiting for her by a tree not far into the clearing where he could be spotted by anyone which was something he normally would not do without a reason. He looked up upon hearing the sound of horse hooves walking through the leaves and brush making loud cracking and pops. He pushed off from the tree trunk to see Amy on her black mare heading his direction, he gave a small smile to the beautiful girl then walked into the clearing to meet her halfway.
"Hello again miss," Mark greeted as she slowed the horse to a halt.
"Hello sir, it's nice to see you again, I thought you would never return," she replied getting off her horse. She appeared to be in her night gown, a white and pink one at that. She walked up to the dirty black haired man and gave him a hug not even caring that she would get dirt all over her nightwear. After a few seconds the two pulled away and smiled at each other warmly.
"So before we were rudely interrupted by my duties what were we speakin' of again?" Mark asked the girl who put her arms behind her back clasping them together.
"We were speakin' of my sister and Ethan," she responded looking top the male in front of her.
"Oh right, what were they exactly before he left? Friends? Boyfriend and girlfriend? Or what?" He questioned the girl as they sat down in the semi-tall grass, Amy sat crisscrossed while Mark had one leg straight and the other up where his foot was flat on the ground.
"They were datin' but only lasted 6 months because of the incident." Mark's eyes widened as he listened to Amy's words. No wonder why Ethan freaked out over what Tyler said last evening, he must still love her.
"They really cared about each other, how Ethan would look at her just showed how much he cared about her, no words were needed to see it all you had to do was look into his eyes. When the incident happened he lost all color and the love he had drained from his eyes so when he left her behind, he left her heartbroken. A few days after he left our father had us move away because of what happened, it was for our safety." When she finished Mark took a deep breath and looked to the ground, he bit down lightly on his lips. Ethan really was once a good guy, he just had a bad past and couldn't forget it. Revenge, he was consumed by it, it had trapped him inside own purgatory with no escape.
"Tyler brought her up in a little fight we all had last night and he got so angry that he punched the livin' shit out him. I have never seen him this angry before in my life. It was honestly scary, he has yelled at all of us, but never hit any of us to the point that we bled, he made Tyler bleed a river out of his nose," Mark looked back up to Amy who was shocked.
"He has never been that angry in front of me either, back when we were younger he was so caring and considerate of others feelings, he never wanted to hurt anyone no matter how angry he got." Everything then went silent for a good 3 minutes, the two were both just surprised that they had both found that Ethan acted differently in the presence of the other person before Mark broke the silence once again.
"That's a shocker, now he is willin' to hurt anyone. We could bring them together again, they miss each other so why not it might make them both happy again, I have never seen Ethan fully happy before but it is worth a shot right?" Mark sat up onto his knees with a smile plastered onto his face.
"I don't know if that's a good idea or not..." Amy replied and looked down, Mark grabbed her hands tightly causing her look over at him to see his happy face as he held onto her hands. She blushed at the sudden contact and looked into Mark's dark eyes.
"It's worth a shot right? Come on Amy don't you want to see your sister happy?" He asked her. She took a deep shaky breath and nodded at him.
"Okay, you bring Ethan out here to this spot and I will bring (Y/n) tomorrow while our father is working," she replied standing still holding his hands, he stood up as well and intertwined their fingers lightly.
"Sounds like a plan, I guess I will see you tomorrow then?" He raised an eyebrow earning a small giggle from her and nod. She let go of his hands and walked to her black horse that awaited her not far. Mark slowly lowered his hands in disappointment from the lack of her warmth. She pulled herself up onto the saddle and held onto the horn. Mark made his way to the horses side.
"I will see you tomorrow cowboy," she said before kicking her horses side and turning the reins to head back to her home in Armadillo leaving Mark behind. He was lost at words, she was so beautiful in his eyes and he couldn't help but watch her go. To be honest he didn't want her to leave in the first place but he knew she needed to. Mark walked to his horse that was hidden in the trees and grabbed onto the horn of the saddle, he put his foot into the stirrups of his saddle before pulling himself onto the saddle and grabbed the reins. He kicked the horses side and rode off to the campsite where his friend were sleeping.
When Mark arrived back to the camp he saw a wide awake Ethan who was just lying on his bed with his hands over his face. Ethan took his hands from his face when he heard the sound of a horse coming towards them. He noticed it was Mark and sat up on his bed gicing him a confused yet concerned look.
"Where have you been?" He asked Mark as the man climbed down from his horses saddle.
"None of your business, get some sleep we have plans to look forward to tomorrow," was all Mark said as he tied his horse up and went to his bed to get some shut eye for the night. He was ready to see Amy tomorrow and he was excited for what will happen between the two former lovers. He hoped to see Ethan actually smile and not a weak small one, he wanted to see him happy for once.
