It had gotten dark pretty fast and Ethan still wasn't back, the others went to bed, but (Y/n) could only worry about where Ethan was. He is strong she knows that, though he is not the type to stay out this long without informing anyone. She sat there anxiously waiting for him to return to the camp. Every noise she would hear, she would turn her head hoping he was there. The next thing she knew she could hear hooves galloping in her direction, she quickly stood prepared for what she was about to see. The familiar pale horse rode up to show a healthy Ethan. (Y/n) let out a breath of relief as he dismounted from the horses saddle.

"Where have you been!?" The girl whisper yelled at him, he sighed and tied his horse to the pole in front of him.

"Just on a ride, I needed time to myself that is all," Ethan responded with a quiet voice as he looked over to the others who were sleeping.

"Ethan... He is gone and you know this. You can't hold onto the past like this, yes I wish he was still here too, but I don't think he would want us to mourn him forever."

"He was there for me (Y/n), when I left Manzanita Post, he gave me a choice to get out of there, but I declined and treated him like shit many times since that day... how could I ever forgive myself for all the things I have said and done to him. I wish I could go back and tell him how sorry I am for everythin'." Ethan ran his fingers through his hair anxiously and threw his arm down to his side in frustration. "I should have stepped in front of you, not him. He didn't deserve any of this, no one does."

"Ethan, I bet he forgives you wherever he is, he knows you tried and I know you tried. You are only a man, not a God. Trust me he has probably said somethin' is in his life he regrets doin'."

"Signe..." Ethan whispered lightly, who was she? Did Ethan know her or something?

"He told me the day before the robbery that he regretted ever leavin' his girlfriend and choosin' this life over her. He said I would regret it and now look at me, I hold this regret close to me, I will hold this grudge until the day I take my last breath. We are going to head up to her farm that is just North from here, I have to convey a message to her from Jack before he passed."

"Would she call the Law on us?" She asked him worriedly as she began to fiddle with her thumbs. Ethan chuckled and took hold of her hands to stop them from their frantic moving.

"No, she won't. We just need to head up there then we will make up a new plan on where to go and what to do. I am goin' to talk to Mark tomorrow morning and tell him we will leave in 2 days, but before then I want to show you something that you probably will not see for a while..." (Y/m) cocked her head at his final few words in confusion. What did he want to show her exactly? He was stressed, tired, sad and just angry, she could tell. He is not a hard person to figure out especially when you have known him for a as long as she has. She nodded as he walked to his bed to rest. He needed the rest and he needed a break, no matter what he is a good man even after all he has been through he still is and always will be, it is just hidden deep within him that he cannot find alone.

You don't need to accomplish anything to be a somebody, being who you are makes you a somebody and not just a shadow of a lie told to cover the truth. Ethan and lost himself now he is struggling to fix it.
