Ethan and (Y/n) were riding along the snowy path heading up the mountain towards the old mountain they would always go to as kids. They would go up there to get away from parents and just so they could have fun. This was where they would go all the nights they left town when they were kids. It was a routine and their parents didn't like the idea because there were bears everywhere on that mountain it was getting late when they would go up there. Sometimes (Y/n)'s father would come get them because they were up there too late or they didn't tell them where they were going at all.
"There!" (Y/n) exclaimed pointing to the mountain with a smile on her face. The memories of that mountain were flooding back and all the smiles and laughs they shared on that mountain. She missed those days. Ethan smiled and kicked the horses side lightly to make the horse go faster up the mountain side. Upon making it to the top of the mountain they hopped off the horses back and looked all around. It looked the same as it did the last night they were there. Ethan walked over to the edge of the mountain where they once would sit all the time together. He looked out at the view to see all the trees, the ocean, Manzanita Post and the next town over. They were all there. It was beautiful in the moonlight. (Y/n) walked up next to him and took hold of his hand as she looked out into the distance. Ethan sighed and looked down at their hands before squeezing her hand a little earning a smile from her.
"It is still so beautiful up here..." (Y/n) whispered as the wind blew her hair all around, she sat down onto the snowy ground pulling Ethan down beside her.
"I know, I've always loved comin' up here with you. Between the conversations we would have and the view, I would enjoy it no matter what." Ethan looked over at her with a smile. (Y/n) scooted closer to him and laid her head on his shoulder as they looked out into the distance.
"Look up at the stars," Ethan spoke looking up a little at the twinkling stars overhead. (Y/n) looked up to see a bright star twinkling at them like it was winking.
"Each twinklin' star is each person we have lost watchin' over us to make sure we are safe and sound. At least that is what I have always heard." Ethan said with a shrug following as he turned to the girl leaning against him. She looked down from the stars to face him.
"That's just a folk tale Ethan..." she spoke up making him chuckle.
"Well it is nice to think that they are watchin' over us so we can always say they are with us no matter what even when they are gone."
They stayed there for quite a few hours before they decided to head back before a bear would come and attack them. Memories replayed of all the times they had went up there or chased the other up there because they were sad or something. Ethan could tell she was starting to get tired so he stood up and picked her up bridal style and placed her onto the horse. She grumbled at him as he climbed onto the horses back. She wrapped her arms around his waist and laid her head on his back softly. He smiled to her before grabbing the reins from the horn and kicking the horses side lightly to head down the mountain side. The moon lit his way back to Manzanita Post as the wind rushed through his hair and his loves making hers fly all over as he went along. At some point he looked down at his right hand and remembered why he was in this mess in the first place. The man who killed his family was still out there and here he was not doing anything about it.
