Chapter 54 - Beacon

They returned to the hotel after emptying their plate. When they were in the hallway, Ray and Fier said goodnight to Oxford and his family before walking into the hotel room. Ray closed the door shut when the family was about to enter their room. He turned around and Fier was nowhere to be seen, so he went to his bedroom and he found him sitting on the bed, back to his original appearance.

"Goodnight Fier.", said Ray when he stood in the doorway, staring at the robot.

"You too.", replied Fier with a glance.

Ray walked into his bedroom and closed the door behind him. He let out a short yawn as he was walking to the bathroom to brush his teeth. After that, he sat on the bed and changed his clothes to a t-shirt and shorts. He placed the removed clothes, folded, on top of the shelf where his luggage is located. He then laid down on the bed and turned the light off. He was staring up at the ceiling with both of his hands resting on his chest. Suddenly, he hard a knock on the door. Ray sat up when the door creaked open, it is Fier.

"You alright?", questioned Ray when he was squinting.

"I'm just checking.", answered Fier before he started to close the door.

Ray laid back down on the bed and after a few minutes, he finally fell asleep.

Oxford and Zinnia were watching a movie in their bedroom, already laying on the bed. Azalea was in her bedroom putting away her dress when she started to hear her parents conversation about their first kiss, which she also remembered something. Azalea's bedroom is just next to the master bedroom, where her parents are currently. She stood up and left her bedroom and stood in the doorway where she caught her parents kissing.

"When did you two first kiss?", Azalea questioned out of nowhere, surprising the couple.

"How long have you been standing there?", questioned the father.

"Just now.", replied the daughter.

"We first kissed when we were on top of the Empire State Building.", answered the mother to her daughter's question. "Why'd you ask?", added Zinnia.

"Will dad be mad if I said that I kissed someone?", questioned Azalea.

"You meant, you made the first move?", questioned Oxford with a tone and slightly tilted his head to his right.

"Kinda like that.", replied the girl when she stepped inside and sat on the bed, Oxford's side.

"Who did you kissed?", questioned the father with a plain tone and a serious look.

Azalea regretted joining their conversation and bringing this kind of topic. She's thinking that Oxford is going to do something bad to Ray once she told him that it is he who she kissed. Lying is not an option, she is not good at it and she never lies to her parents.

"Ray.", said Azalea in a quiet tone.

"Who made the first move?", questioned Oxford.

"It was I who made the first move.", answered Azalea.

"I see... I'll talk to him tomorrow.", said Oxford after he let out a sigh.

"Ok.", replied the daughter before moving away from the bed and left their sight.

Zinnia asked her husband if he is alright and the father nodded slowly. He said that he is too tired to think about, for now, so he will talk to him tomorrow at lunch. Zinnia nodded before resting her head on the pillow and Oxford followed after turning off the lights.

Fier kept himself in his bedroom without producing any noise. He is just sitting there in the middle of the edge of the bed, staring down at his mechanical hands. Out of nowhere, a pop-up, which says that the beacon has been deactivated, appeared in the right bottom corner of his HUD. His head jerked with confusion. The pop-up stayed there in the corner for only a few seconds before it disappeared.

"Beacon?", questioned Fier to himself.

He stood back up again and looked around for the white folder which contains the blueprints and details about his body. He never really wanted to read the papers that are in the folder, even Oxford, until now. He started to search his luggage which only contains a white towel and nothing else. He then decided to go to Ray's bedroom, quietly, thinking that he has the folder. Before Fier opened the door, he first shut the lights off in the living room so that there won't be a beam of light coming into the bedroom. He gently and slowly opened the door, he peaked his head first just to check if Ray is asleep. Then he stepped inside and quickly found Ray's luggage.

He kneeled down on the floor and started to unzip the case and there he immediately saw the white folder, it is just resting on top of the tool boxes, next to the red folder. He grabbed it, zipped the baggage shut, and carefully stood up and left the bedroom by closing the door without making any noise. He returned to his bedroom when he stared at his printed name that is in the middle of the front folder's cover. He sighed when he sat down on the chair and flipped the folder open, arriving at the papers. One by one, he scanned each paper, front and back before proceeding to the next one. In just a few seconds he ended up in a list of features that are fixed to his body, they are all arranged alphabetically. Thanks to the feature that he can find words efficiently, he found out where the beacon module is located and what is its purpose.

"Huh.", uttered Fier when he looked straight whilst closing the folder.

He pondered when he stared down at the folder. Oxford's main phone is not functioning, the raids, cannot connect to the servers, and deactivating the beacon module remotely... those things made Fier think that something bad is happening, or going to happen and it scares him.
