Chapter 79 - Sarin

Ray was just leaning against the wall with his arms crossed while the others are arguing. He was there quietly and listening to their ideas, hoping that he might find a solution if he pieces them all together. Ray jerked when he heard something about a USB port somewhere inside the enormous robot. He requested to repeat it clearly and then asked where it is located. The man, who claimed to be one of the engineers that built the robot, said that there is a way to stop it, and that is from the inside of its head. They built a hidden port somewhere in the head that is connected to the core of the beast and that's it. Ray was about to say that that is easy, but then the man continued to talk.

For someone in order to get to the head, its forcefield must be shutdown and the only way to shut it down is from the inside. Ray then suddenly had an idea. Everyone was just quiet when Ray asked a question whilst walking away from them.

"Is there a way for me to get closer to it?"

Oxford stood next to Ray who got himself carefully on a ledge, trying not to slip.

"They still have one spacecraft in standby.", answered Oxford when he passed the question to Chap.

"Ok... I'll take care of this while you find your family.", said Ray to Oxford when Chap appeared nearby to lead Ray to the spacecraft.

Oxford nodded at him before leaving him with his trusted friends. Ray slid his right hand into one of his pockets. He felt the Kill Switch still in its place, he brought it out to see if it is still in its working condition. The device was covered in water and let out a few drops when he tilted it to its side.

"Oh no.", said Ray to himself quietly.

He placed the device back into his pocket and moved closer to Chap who was about to climb up the ladder. Ray asked Chap if the spacecraft has a USB port that he can use. Chap nodded at him before arriving at the doors of the spacecraft. Ray told Chap that it would be safer if he went there all by himself, which made Chap to ask why. Ray told him that he doesn't want to lose him. Chap cringed immediately, thinking that he is gay.

"I'm not gay.", said Ray all of sudden. "Just, go help Oxford. He needs you more than I do.", he added.

"You know we're too late right? If we did find his family, where are we going to go?"

Chap looked around their surroundings when he felt the water level making contact with their feet.

"There's always a way.", said Ray.

"I wish you luck."

Chap told him before handing him a weapon, guessing that he might need it, before leaving him to do his thing. Ray kept the weapon in his hand as he was walking up the ramp. When he got to the cockpit, the water has already flooded the area around the spacecraft. Ray was surprised that the spacecraft has an AI built in which made everything easier. Ray remained standing when the spacecraft started to take off, he requested to keep the ramp open. Since his plan was to either get Cal out of the robot to talk to him or to land on the robot after he inserted the Kill Switch which should shutdown the spacecraft.

He also hoped that this spacecraft is large enough to destroy the forcefield that is surrounding the enormous robot that is just standing in front. The spacecraft came to a stop at the top of the robot when Ray was about to insert the Kill Switch into the main module. The lights throughout the spacecraft turned off immediately and were followed by the engines. Ray retrieved the USB device before moving away from the cockpit, returning back to the ramp, waiting for the spacecraft to make contact with the barrier.

He jumped off milliseconds after he felt the spacecraft hit the forcefield. He was shocked that the forcefield survived like it was just nothing. Ray was just inches away from the surface of the shield when he was plummeting down to the water. Then out of nowhere, something stopped his fall. Ray fell on something flat, he tried to get up, still hurt form the fall, and discovered that the robot caught him with its right hand. Ray was gasping for breath, still trying to get back on his feet, when the hand started to move towards its gigantic head.

"Fascinating.", the enormous robot suddenly talked, its voice was very similar to Cal's voice.

Ray found himself started to spit out blood when Cal came into his view. He didn't appear personally, there is just a hologram of him that has formed in just a few meters away from Ray. Ray has to capitulate to him, he thought that he wants him because he has the abilities that differentiate him from any kinds of species.

Cal told him honestly that he only wants him to be the next leader of the high societies. Ray gave him a slightly confused look, he doesn't believe him.

"Why?", Ray questioned.

Cal didn't answer the question, he just faced his back to him with his hands placed behind his back. When Ray tried to approach him, he felt something in his right leg break. Cal turned around and found the man in pain, he gently approached him and whispered, "It's already too late." The hologram then disappeared at the same time when the giant hand started to move away from the head.

Ray was thrown to a wall with great force, his impact resulted in a small crack on the surface.

"Fight me like a real man.", shouted Ray when he leaned on the railings as his support since he cannot stand back up easily due to some of his bones being fractured. Suddenly he heard someone screamed in the distance. He looked around and there he found Azalea and Zinnia on top of the head of the robot, behind them is Cal who was wearing some sort of armour. The situation just keeps getting worse. Oxford and with everyone returned and also found the two on top of the robot. Ray watched Oxford who was trying to get closer to them whilst also trying to get Cal's attention. The water level has finally reached Ray's feet. He started to smell something weird all of sudden, he searched for its source and discovered that a large metal pipe is leaking a toxic gas called sarin.

Ray looked back and noticed that Cal was staring right at him. His right arm is raised and the robot copied, giving Ray the idea that the robot is following what Cal does. A canon then started to transform from the hand of the robot that is aimed directly at Ray. It also started to produce a sound that changes frequency every second. Ray was about to close his eyes, accepting his faith when suddenly he heard a very loud explosion. A projectile hit the robot's forcefield and when it made contact it created a massive fireball and strong shockwave. It was so powerful that Ray and the others were launched away from their position, even the giant robot has to take a few steps back right after and unexpectedly, its forcefield went down.
