Five hours have passed and Ray started to feel sleepy. He checked the time and found out that it is already midnight. He was sitting behind his desk when he the droid asked a question.
"Can I go to sleep?"
"I didn't know that robots need sleep.... sure.", answered Ray after he yawned and rubbed his eyes gently.
"Just call me if you need something.", said the robot before walking out of the office.
Ray was left alone in the room when he pulled out the grey folder again and went to the last page where he found the similar icon. He decided to memorise them so that when Oxford returned, he will tell him about the unknown label on the glass memory card. While he was memorising everything, he remembered something, he wanted to visit Core's office so that he can know more about everything and the grey tinted glass memory card that is still attached on the first page.
After a few minutes, he stood up and left the office, he brought with him the three folders, he also locked the door to the office, just in case. He stood in front of the scanner which is connected to the elevators. He was about to get his keycard but he instead to use the grey one, by curiosity. He slid the card in the scanner and waited for a response. He didn't hear a chime from the elevator, just silence. He stared down at the grey keycard, thinking to where does he use this. After second, he pulled out his and slid it on the scanner, that did something, he heard the elevator chime and the doors opened. He stepped inside the elevator and found another scanner on the right side. He used the grey keycard first and he wasn't expecting for the elevator to respond, but it did, it started to go down, without even closing the doors shut, it is just wide open as it was going straight down with speed. He stood away from the door, waiting for the elevator to come to a stop.
And surprisingly it did come to a stop after a few minutes instead of crashing. The doors remained open when Ray stepped out of the elevator and ended up in an unknown abandoned catwalk that leads to a hallway which also leads to a door on the other end. He noticed something very different, that defies the laws of physics. The entire catwalk seems to be floating by itself. It is not attached to anything. He couldn't see the bottom, even the top, just darkness, except for the dim lights that are fixed on the railings. He also cannot hear any sounds, it is just dead quiet. Slowly, he made his journey to the entrance of the hallway. He looked around and found no CCTV or even an employee. The hallway is made out of concrete and the lights are placed in the bottom corner where the floor and the wall meets. He started to walk towards the door whilst also taking quick glances back to the elevator, making sure that he won't get stranded here all by himself.
When he was just a few meters away from the door, he found another scanner again, he guessed that it is for the grey keycard so he brought it out and this time, he tapped it and the metal door unlocked. Ray looked behind him, he started to have this feeling that he is being watched by someone. He placed his right hand on the handle and gently pushed the door open. He ended up in a gigantic room that shaped like a decagon and it looked like that it hasn't made contact with someone for centuries. Surprisingly, there are no vines or any signs that nature is reclaiming it, but there are huge cracks on the wall. Those things didn't catch Ray's attention, but the enormous machine in the middle of the room did. The unknown machine is hanging from the ceiling. He wanted to take a closer look, but he does not have a light source with him, the only light source in the gigantic room is the lights from the hallway seeping through the opened door where Ray walked in. But it is enough to lit the entire colossal machine.
Ray moved closer as he was admiring the three long arms that are fixed to the body of the machine. There are large, seems to be two feet, metal needles on the end of each arm and all three of them are pointing to the centre of the room. Ray stood in the middle of the room, above the unknown machine, he looked down at the floor and noticed that he was standing on a stone tile which displays a logo carved on it. He correctly positioned himself and his head just to see the logo, he also found that in the centre of the logo is a text.
"Neuron.", Ray read the text quietly instead of reading it in his mind.
He approached one of the arms since they are within his reach. He can clearly see his reflection on the needle, then... he saw a dark figure standing behind him. He quickly turned around and found no one, he can't accept that he is the only one in this enormous room.
"Hello?", he called out, staring at the opened door, expecting to see someone to appear.
He looked around the room for the last time, and there he saw a glass panel which looked like a window located up high on the same side of where the door is fixed. He guessed that it might be the control room, he wanted to go there but couldn't find the way. There is no more other doors that can be found in the room. He tried to search for a secret door both in the room and in the hallway but came out empty handed.
Ray soon got bored and left the place, he will still be visiting this place from time to time, but first, he wanted to know what is the purpose of this place and who built it and why is it located and hidden deep under the facility? Ray stepped back inside the elevator after he made sure that the door is closed. He pulled out his keycard and swiped it on the scanner and immediately the doors of the elevator closed and started to go upward.
After standing alone inside a confined space, Ray noticed that the elevator stopped and then heard the chyme, followed by the opening of the doors. Core was surprised for a few seconds when he found Ray standing inside the elevator. Ray stared at the robot who entered the elevator with him. When Core was walking into the elevator, he noticed that Ray was holding the grey key card, so he guessed that he already went to that place but just to make sure, he asked the man a question.
"You saw it didn't you?", Core glanced to Ray when he moved both of his hands to his front.
"I did... what is it?", Ray replied with a question too.
