Chapter 73 - Nite

Ray gently and carefully opened the door slightly until he can see what is on the other side. There are two guards positioned on the right and two more on the opposite side. He closed the door after a few seconds and then moved away from it, thinking a way of how he will get to the server room unnoticed. He tried looking for vents a while ago, but couldn't find any. He figured that once he is spotted, it is game over. Unless... Cal wanted something from him. If there is then what does he wants?

He might go plan b, it is still the same as plan a, but add the surrendering. Ray leaned on the railings with his eyes closed as he was making a decision. He also knows that he will definitely get shot since he tried to kill Cal first.

Then he remembered something...

Cal shot him in the head but for some unknown reason, he is still alive. So maybe, he will take a bullet, act like he's dead and then assassinate? Nah, not favourable, why? Because if Ray was shot directly to the head and for them, he died, then they would not be acting like this. Plus, he was caught alive when he was in the murder or torture area. He rubbed his face, frustrated as he thinks of another way to bypass them. He can't cause a distraction, the probability of them not getting their attention is very likely.

He went back to the laptop again, accessed the servers, and with the cameras in the facility, he started to search a blind spot for him to use. Yes, he can access the servers, but he doesn't have the ability to control them. In order to control it via laptop, someone needs to link the device to the servers in the main computer which happens to be also in the server room.

And again, he remembered something...

The robot that he built, he can still remember its number and its code. He also secretly placed a backdoor in its code, he just hopes that the robot isn't being used at the moment. Ray launched the command terminal and after a few minutes, he found his creation in service. Ray let out a sigh quietly as he was quickly running out of ideas. He has no other choice but to surrender and hope for the best that he won't get shot.

He was about to walk out of the door when suddenly he started to hear someone walking up the stairs. He found out that there is a robot walking up the stairs. Ray also realised that he has another choice. Which is using the Kill Switch on the incoming robot and hack its system. The only slight problem is that Ray doesn't know what does the USB Drive contains, plus he doesn't even know if the robot has a USB port for it. He just hoped that he gets lucky.

He took a deep breath when he was walking up the stairs by only a couple of steps so that he can jump on top of the robot and then search for its ports. He must do it quickly and quietly or else he will be screwed. He placed the laptop on the floor whilst preparing the USB drive. When the robot has finally arrived at the man's sight, he immediately jumped on top of him, he was expecting that this will be easy but he didn't expect that the robot that he just jumped on is the general. Ray was thrown away with force without the robot showing any difficulties.

Ray was struggling to get back on his feet as the robot was walking towards him with its rifle aimed and ready to shoot at him. The man was trapped in a corner by the general. The droid was staring at the man's eyes when he moved the weapon closer to the flesh.

"You shouldn't have returned.", said the robot when he noticed that Ray was holding something small in his right hand.

"Why wouldn't I?", replied Ray.

Ray was expecting that the robot will shoot but what he wasn't expecting is the opposite. He was surprised that the robot moved its rifle away whilst also stepping back.

"You're very lucky that I am not one of them.", said the general as he looking around the staircase making sure that they didn't cause any racket that might get their attention.

Ray was confused as to why the droid didn't shoot, is it now his ally?

"Name's Nite by the way.", the robot with the male voice told the man his name.

Nite was staring at the man who is also staring at him with a confusion.

"Who's them?", Ray finally started to talk again.

"His guards, I'm guessing that you've already seen one."

"The guards?", Ray questioned as he was pointing at the door where its other are guards.

The robot nodded at him and then told him that he is the only robot left that Cal hasn't override yet. All of the robots in the entire facility, Fier and his brother included, have been overridden and are now directly under the control of Cal.

"What's your plan?", Nite asked when he was following Ray who went back up to retrieve his laptop whilst also putting the USB drive into one of his pockets.

Ray told Nite about his plan, which is getting to the server room without getting noticed. Nite jerked his head whilst hearing his plan. It's a long shot, but well worth trying. The robot said to the man that the entire facility is covered with Cal's eyes, being stealthy is useless, he will be caught in just a matter of seconds. Nite suggested that they strike now before its too late since all of the employees will be slaughtered in just a couple of weeks. Ray sighed when he remembered the butchered men and women. Ray doesn't want to know if there are children included.

"What do you know about me?", questioned Ray to Nite.

"I know for a fact that you're smart.", answered the general.

"How about Cal?"

"I have no idea what he knows about you.", replied Nite when he was gently shaking his head and Ray nodded right after.

"Ready?", Nite pulled out a pistol and then was handing it to Ray when he refused.

"These won't help us.", Ray referred to the weapons that they currently have. "We need something more destructive. I've studied that all of you are tanks."

"My rifle can pierce through two robots.", said Nite as he was staring at the man who was giving him a serious look. "Follow me.", Nite told Ray after he gave up in just a couple of seconds.

As the two were walking down the stairs, Ray asked a question that made Nite paused for a moment.

"Why?"

The robot turned to face him and answered that he is scared that Cal might erase his memory, just like what he did to some of his friends and family.
