Chapter 36 - Permission

"I'd like to speak with the high societies.", Oxford told the guard who was stationed near two huge hinged glass doors.

"I am the only one who is present.", a man spoke.

Oxford turned around and found a man standing behind him with both of his hands placed behind his back.

"Sir, I want to have a word with you. It won't take you long.", requested Oxford to the man.

"Very well... follow me.", replied the man as he ordered the guard to open the doors so that the two of them can have a talk.

Oxford followed the man into his office, which looked more modern and simplified than the others. The two men sat down near the desk.

"What do you want to talk about? Remember, don't call me sir.", questioned the man who is wearing a white suit with a name tag on his right chest.

"Cal, I need your permission so that my test subject can help us.", said Oxford with a calm tone.

"Where's the red folder?", questioned Cal.

Oxford brought the red folder to their view and handed it to the man who needed it. Cal opened the folder and started to scan every paper of information. He one-by-one took the papers out and placed them on the desk.

"Is this one of your tests?", questioned Cal after he placed the empty folder on the desk.

"Yes.", answered Oxford without hesitating.

Cal nodded while getting a pen from his desk and also a key card. He started to write something on the card, meanwhile, Oxford was just watching him quietly. After a few seconds, Cal looked up at Oxford and handed him the card. Oxford gently received the object and also looked at it. The key card has a different appearance and structure compared to other key cards. It is the only way to show that the high societies have given one the permission.

"Return it before you leave.", Cal told Oxford as he started to put the papers back into the red folder.

"I will.", replied Oxford before standing up, grabbing the red folder, and walked out from the office.

Oxford returned to the Test Section and started to look for two men, one is wearing a white general uniform and a white general hat and the other man is wearing a blue suit. He first checked Ony's office but found out it was empty so he went to the second place where Ony usually spends his time, his crafting area. He was right, when he was about to enter the area, he can hear Ony's voice and also Ray's.

"Trust me I never stop building machines.", said Ony to Ray when Oxford came to their view.

Ray and Ony stopped talking when they turned their heads to Oxford who was approaching them.

"Are you coming with us? I'll be bringing Ray to the vault.", questioned Oxford to Ony who was sitting on a stool.

"Vault?", Ray asked when he jerked his head.

"Of course, I want to watch him.", replied Ony, jumping off from his seat.

The three left the area and headed to the vault which is located deep underground. Ray was following the two men in front of him to the elevators. They were silent for minutes in the elevator due to the distance that they need to travel. They stepped out of the elevator when they have finally arrived at the lowest floor that the elevator can travel, it just a narrow hallway which connects the elevators to the two large metal-hinged doors in the distance. Ray continued to follow them even though he started to get curious, confused and scared at the same time.

"Are we seriously going to use the stairs?", questioned Ray after they walked past through the doors and were greeted by a very long staircase which only goes far down.

"We only use the stairs if the facility is in zero hours.", said Ony to Ray when they came to a stop in front of another door.

"Zero hours?", Ray asked.

"Don't tell him that.", Oxford interrupted as he pulled out the key card that Cal gave and swiped it into a scanner which is placed near the door.

The door then opened and revealed a large glass tube, large enough for a large man to fly through it. Oxford stepped aside to let Ony be the first one to go into the tube. Ray remained standing in his position, watching the two. Ony was standing inside the tube when a glass door closed the opening and with just a blink of an eye, Ony left their sight with a sound of a canon.

"I guess you already know how it works right?", Oxford brought a question as he hand gestured him to step inside the glass tube.

"I think.", answered Ray when he started to feel the air around him being blown down on the trapdoor which has tiny holes.

"Of course you do.", said Oxford as the glass door closed shut and the glass tube immediately he has sucked away from Oxford.

Ray didn't enjoy the ride since the view is just pure black, he can only see is himself reflecting on the curved glass. He also doesn't know what direction he was looking at. He figured that the end of the tube is getting closer when he felt that he is slowing down. When he arrived at the end, he found Ony leaning against the concrete wall, with his arms crossed and staring at him.

"Did you enjoy it?", Ony let out a question.
