His Angel

Chapter 10

"Hello my sweet coconut." A familiar husky voice came on the line and Laura gasped.

"G-Greg?"

Laura immediately felt Lizzy's excited gaze on her as she listened with ardour with her hand tucked beneath her jaw.

"The very one, baby." Greg replied, his voice laced with amusement.

"H-how did you get my number?"
Laura asked.

"I have my ways darling, how are you?"

"I'm...fine?" She voiced out, still shocked that he called her.

He chuckled. "You're not sure if you are?"

"I'm fine...fine thank you."

"I promised to call you the next day."

"Why tonight then?" She asked regaining her composure.

"This is almost 1am, Miss. I made that promise yesterday." He replied triumphantly and she said nothing, in embarrassment. "And I didn't expect you'd be up at this hour. Or did my call wake you from your beauty sleep?"

She rolled her eyes. First Lizzy, now Greg.
"No I am not sleeping yet." She replied quietly.

"Mm, someone is missing me."
Greg purred.

"What? No way! There's nothing there to miss about you." She joked.

"Ouch, that hurts." He said with fake sadness.

"Sorry." She replied, faking sympathy as well.

"Will you be free tonight?" He asked in a serious tone.

"The day has not even broken yet, so I haven't  planned my activities for today, Mr Williams." She formerly addressed him purposely. "But I'm sure I'll be busy tonight."

"Well, Miss West," he retaliated making Laura smile in amusement. "Cancel whatever appointment or plans you have for tonight or have it postponed."

Her eyes widened.
"Seriously? Why if I may ask?"

"It's obvious, because I want to see you."
He drawled.

"And when did you start dictating to me how I'll spend my day and with whom?" She asked trying not to shout so as not to disturb those that were sleeping. "Because that sounded like an order."

"It's not." He replied smoothly. "That's why I asked if you'll be free tonight."

"Well I won't." She said, but already thinking of the excuse she would give to her stepmother so that she could see him. But, on second thought, she wasn't at home now because the same stepmother had refused to let her sleep in her father's house. So she could just pretend she was still at Liz's house and go to see him. Right?

Oh no! What was she thinking. This was her sister's man she was talking about. She couldn't see him!
Besides, the paparazzi might see them together and her face would be plastered on magazines as his current girlfriend or rather - conquest and that would be hell for her if Celina or Samantha found out.

"I...I can't see you tonight." She said quietly and earned a glare from Lizzy.

"Why?" He asked huskily. His voice laced with shock and surprise. This, probably, was the first time a woman was turning him down. Laura thought.

"I-I j-just can't." She stuttered.

"You will give me two reasons why I can't see you tonight, Miss." He said and Laura detected a hint of command in his voice and that fired her up a little.
