Laura was glad that she had the full addresses of the two places he lived in. His penthouse in the center of town and his mansion of which she had seen pictures of. But she didn't know which of the houses he might currently be at, or if he was even at home.
She navigated the car that she and Mirabel owned, smoothly along the roads until she finally got to the gigantic building that housed his multi million penthouse.
She was stopped by a security man as she made her way towards the elevator.
"Good evening Miss," the stern looking man acknowledged politely. "Who are you and how may I help you please?"
"Good evening, I'm Laura West." She replied. "I'm here to see Greg Williams."
"Oh, Mr Williams, okay. Does he know you're visiting?"
She gaped. "Uhm, yes he does."
"I'll have to call his apartment to confirm, then."
The man said as he reached for the telephone."Uh, okay." At least if he picked and realized she was downstairs, there was no doubt that he would ask her to come upstairs.
But if he picked, that would mean he had been seeing her calls and purposely didn't want to answer."Hello sir," the security started. "There is a Miss Laura West here to see you." He paused and listen, then raised his head to look at her as he continued to listen. "Alright sir, no problem."
He dropped the phone and faced her with an expressionless face."I'm sorry Miss," he said politely and her face became etched with worry and dread. "He asked me never to let you in."
Her jaw dropped. Never?
She cleared her throat. "Uhm, can you please call him again so that I can speak with him?"
The man shook his head. "Sorry but you'll have to do that with your own mobile phone."
Laura nodded slowly, holding back the tears that threatened to spill down her cheeks.
"It's alright, thank you.""Have a goodnight ma'am." He said with a hint of compassion on his face.
"Goodnight." She slowly made her way out of the building, heavily disappointed.
Then why had he called her? Maybe it was a mistake. She decided and kept walking to her car.
But three call dials couldn't be a mistake. She paused, then turned and walked back to the building.
She would plead with the security to help her out. When she walked in, the man was not in his spot.
She wondered where he might have gone. Then she heard the faint flush of the toilet and smiled.Someone was relieving himself.
Seeing this as an opportunity, she rushed to the elevator and punched the floor button she was headed. But before the door closed, the security came out and his eyes widened when he saw her.
"What the...? Hey!" He started towards her but the door closed before he could get to her and she breathed a sigh of relief.
Looking at her reflection in the mirror, she tried to make herself more presentable. As the doors opened on his floor, she rushed out and went to the door, seeing that it was the number in the address.
She rang the doorbell and waited anxiously. Her heart was beating fast and she felt very nervous as her mind ran through different questions.
What if he refused to listen to her? What if he threw her out? What if...The door opened sharply and she gasped when she saw just who had opened it.
It was the young woman she had ran into at the party the other night. The night she and Greg had made out, not knowing some bastard was taking photos of them to send to the blasted newspapers.
