"Your father called this morning to tell me to permit you to go to a dinner date with a man."The two girls froze as they looked at each other, eyes wide as a result of the just uttered words that came from Celina.
"Hello? Are you there?" Celina asked from the other end of the line.
"Yes, yes I am." Laura replied breathlessly.
"Who is this man, Laura?" Celina asked in a creepily low voice.
"I...I don't know what you are talking about." Laura muttered.
"Don't play games with me, child!"
Celina exclaimed harshly."I'm not playing any game with you!"
Laura exclaimed as well."Then tell me who he is!"
"I just told you, I don't know!"
"You are a liar!"
"I don't know why you are saying this but dad didn't even call me!"
She heard Celina take a deep breath.
"Get back to the house immediately."
Celina said."But..."
"Now!"
And the call ended.
"That witch." Lizzy commented. "Now she's been all bossy."
"And it seems I have no choice but to obey the boss." Laura said with a grimace.
"Do you think she's telling the truth? About your father calling her to tell her that?" Lizzy asked.
"I really don't know." Laura replied. "I might have to go home to find out. But I'm having a hunch."
"Me too. But do you think it's possible?" Lizzy asked.
"I don't know, Liz." Laura replied. "The only way to find out is to ask him."
"Well then, go ahead." Lizzy said. "Call him."
"I can't."
Lizzy looked at her like she had gone crazy.
"Why? How else are you going to find out if it's true or not?"Laura was going to reply when her phone rang. She quickly looked at the caller ID.
"Talk of the devil. It's Greg.""Wonderful! Pick it up at once!" Lizzy persuaded cheerfully.
After an eyes roll, Laura answered the call.
"Hello.""It's me again, angel."
His sexy voice came on the line."I know. What are you up to?" Laura asked going straight to the point, refusing to dwell on the fact that his voice did tingly things to her insides.
"What are you talking about?"
He asked back."My father. Does that ring a bell to you?"
"Your father?" He asked, faking innocence but Laura detected a hint of a laugh in his voice. "What happened to your father?"
"Stop playing with me Greg." She said. "I'm sure you know that I'm talking about the phone call you made to my father."
He chuckled briefly. "Ah, she finally said it."
"But how? How were you able to convince my father?" She asked. Her heart beating in excitement at the thought of seeing him again.
"I warned you, little angel," he said. "That I must see you tonight and nothing would stop me. And I know that apart from your beautiful self, your father has the final say on whether or not you are allowed to have dinner with me."
