The next day went exactly like the previous days. Nina got home after the night at Ian’s place, unable to get it out of her mind. Ian stayed at home and for the first time in such a long while, he wasn’t feeling that sad and alone. They haven’t talked about a reunion, they just let themselves enjoy the moment they had last night.

Ian had this tingly feeling , which couldn’t be shook off. It was like he was almost full again. He was really willing to work the things out with Nina. Ian just needed her in his life. He wasn’t able to continue living without her, he needed her back.

Nina couldn’t stop thinking about that night. Ian’s lips all over her skin, his hands all over her body…

The butterflies that had died during the split, were now back fluttering in her stomach. The night was simply perfect. He was kissing her all over, he was caressing her skin and exploring her. She was feeling so relaxed and loved and if it was a normal night, she would have fallen asleep. But she was so happy, that she wasn’t able to sleep until Ian did.

And when he fell asleep, she felt contentment and even his snoring sounded adorable to her.

She was ready to get out of her apartment right now and go back to him, but she was scared. Not because maybe he wouldn’t want the same thing; he clearly did. But because if things get wrong again, she wouldn’t be able to survive. They had tried before and that had happened. So she couldn’t.

But she couldn’t take him off her mind.

She was lounging on the couch in her peaceful, quiet living room. The sound of the doorbell ringing startled her but she quickly got up and went to open the door, hoping it was Ian. But when she opened it, her jaw fell. It wasn’t Ian. It was someone who she completely had forgotten last night. Derek.

"Derek, hi." Nina smiled. "What are you doing here?"

"I’m here for work but I decided to stop by and see you, beautiful." His seductive smile crossed his lips.

She swallowed. “I had no idea you were here.”

And by her surprise, Derek hurried inside and kissed her. She frowned directly. Why was he kissing her? They had been only on a single date, they weren’t a couple or were they? She had no idea what was he thinking.

The kiss didn’t last long at all, because Nina pulled away. “I…”

But Derek interrupted. “I hope you don’t mind spending some time with me, Dobrev. We’ve always been a thing and now that we’re hooking up, just the two of us in a room, doesn’t sound so weird, does it?”

"Well, as a friends, yeah…"

"Did I hurry with the kiss? I’m sorry, I just really felt like doing it."

"It’s okay, get in." Nina swallowed and sighed silently, then moved from the door so Derek could get in. She wasn’t sure she was going to enjoy someone’s company right now. Her head was a mess. But she just couldn’t tell him to go.

"Do you have just two days off?" Derek spoke, looking around the apartment.

Nina wrinkled her nose. “Yeah. But on special occasions they give us more. I mean like Christmas, you know?”

"I just really like spending my free time with someone like you. And I wanted to invite you to Idaho. But just the two of us." His usual smile crossed his lips and then Nina felt kind of scared of the person who was standing in front of her.

They’ve been good friends, except for the time he was pushing himself to her. And right now, that was exactly what he was doing.

"I’m…Mmmm." Nina ran her fingers through her hair and swallowed. She was searching for the right words to say but nothing came up, so she changed the subject. "Are you hungry, Derek?"
