Chapter 7- Apologies

Lisa's POV

Lauren and I were just talking and laughing and then Dani walked in. She looked nervous which was weird, I mean she's Dani. Maybe not the Dani she used to be but she's hardly ever nervous about something. "Hey Dan" I smiled.

"Hey" she said "Uh can I talk with Lauren please?" 

"Yeah sure, go ahead" I replied.

"I mean alone Lisa" she laughed, gesturing towards the door for me to get out.

"Oh yeah haha my bad!" I said but quickly got up and walked towards the door. Before leaving I put my hand on Dani's shoulder, "No fighting this time alright, try to stay calm" I whispered to her, then shut the door and left.

Dani's POV

Ok just do what Lisa said, stay calm. I don't know what's wrong with me lately but I just get really angry really fast, Especially towards Lauren probably because we're the closest and she knows a lot.

I cautiously approached the bed, where Lauren sat, still silent staring at her lap. I reached for her arm and traced my hand over her bandage. "I'm sorry sugar" I whispered. Her head immediately snapped upwards upon hearing that nickname,

"Haven't heard that name in a while" she smiled.

She came closer and engulfed me in a hug, at first I was distant but then gave into her embrace, hugging her tighter, closing my eyed and nuzzling my face into her neck. After the warm hug it was as though all the tension had been lifted.

"Laur you know I have to ask you about earlier?" I sighed "What did you mean it was Becca's fault and how did you know her?" I said keeping calm.

"Ok, I'll tell you" she said, playing with het fingers which showed her obvious nervousness.

Lauren's POV

I really didn't want to tell anyone about Becca. I thought I'd gotten rid of her finally and I could move on but I got it wrong. She'd never let that happen. I looked Dan in the eyes and started to tell my story.

"I know her and her brother from youth group" I said

"Wait you know Isaac?" Dani asked

"Yeeeeah" I said "We actually kinda dated."  Dani's reaction was priceless.

"What!?" she shouted, her mouth agape.

"Shhh! I'll come to that part, let me carry on" I said. She nodded but she was still shocked about this newly come information.

"Becca and I were friends, we used to do a lot together. I used to go to her house, we used to hang out, we did it all. But I didn't tell any of you guys or mom and dad because I was afraid they'll say 'she's a bad influence'." I used my fingers to make air quotes at that bit. "So she was like my secret best friend, but I started developing feelings for Isaac, her older brother..."

"And that's where it started going wrong?" Dani asked, cocking her eyebrow.

"Yeah, when Becca found out we were dating she got mad. She started drinking and smoking even more than she was before. One night at her house she tried to make me drink. I mean she's tried to persuade me before but I never gave in. But this time she was forceful." I said. Memories flood back to me, as I remember that night and how she grabbed my face, trying to get the drink down my throat. The drink ended up spilling on my face and all over my t-shirt. "I fought her off and yelled at her saying I never wanted to see her again and unfortunately that meant never seeing Isaac again either." By now tears were strolling down my face. I quickly wiped them and gave a sad smile to Dani, "I guess I always knew she was a bad 'friend', she'd always make me do things I didn't want to do, well now you know..."

"Oh Laur , I'm so sorry" Dani said, giving my hand a squeeze but she still looked nervous. Worried. Jumpy. I put two and two together,

"But now she's doing the same thing to my baby sister, isn't she?" I asked angrily.

"Yeah..." Dani whispered. "But leave it Laur. I'll be fine. Just leave me alone, I can look after myself!" she said, the anger building up. She yanked her hand away from mine and walked out the room.  But she isn't fine. I have to do something about it.
