Kyle's POV

After I left Lauren and Jason in the cabin I hurriedly jumped on my motorbike, securing my helmet. I sped off as fast as I could to get home. On the phone my dad had said something had happened to mom. She's sick you see. Really sick. As I drove I spotted Isaac, Becca's brother, jogging. I like her brother, he was always like a brother to me, but he's always had something against Jason, for reasons I'll never know. Dani was more of a new addition to our group, but I never really understood why Becca brought her, but I don't mind she's kind of cool. But the rest of us were all like family really - me, Jason, Lexie, Sofia, Becca and Isaac. We've been friends for a seriously long time. I think that's why we find it hard to stand up to Becca, because we want to make her see how she's acting but we're afraid we'll lose her. Because we all do love her. Sofia and Becca were really close, I think that's why Sofia stands up to her the most, like back at the cabin. But Becca always pushes her away and as a result Sofia is more closer to Lexie now. Hell, they even live together.

As soon as I got home I rushed up the stairs to mom's room. I pushed open the door to find my dad by my mom's side clutching her hand which had an IV connected to it. His head whipped around when he heard the door slam open. His sad eyes met mine.

"Son" he said, his voice hoarse. My eyes darted past my dad and landed on my mom's. I dreaded asking the question.

"Is sh-she gone?" I said, my eyes not leaving my mother's face for even a second.

"No, not yet" He said, and I breathed a sigh of relief, closing my eyes. "But it's got real bad son," he continued. My eyes opened again and I went to the other side of her bed clasping her other hand. The nurse who I didn't even notice standing in the corner of the room, excused herself. I nodded my head towards her, respectfully. I looked down at my mother and took in her features. Wrinkles wove over her dark skin, each telling a different story. Her frizzy, curly hair had grown thin and were tamed back by a few clips. Her lips were chapped and slightly parted and an oxygen tube travelled from behind her ears into her nose. Her eyes were closed but they were clouded by furrowed brows, indicating her unease. I could practically feel her pain. Slowly, her eyes fluttered opened.

"Baby..." she whispered.

"I'm right here mom, not going anywhere" I said moving closer to her, her lips turned into a small smile and I lay my head on her hands. Sitting on that chair, my head on my dying mother's hand I thought about Lauren, hoping she was okay. And then I thought about the amount of pain my mom was in and if it was selfish of me that I prayed she wouldn't die. Maybe if she did she'd be at peace. I kissed my mom's hand and slowly began to fall asleep.

Lexie's POV

I was just sitting at home and Sofia was in the shower. We both lived together and have been for almost 3 years, ever since we left college. We had a nice apartment actually, seeing as Sofia's dad was basically loaded. But he would always just send over money for her, they've never actually talked, well not since I've known her anyways. And as for her mom, well I didn't know, she didn't talk about that. My parents are both dead. I care but not that much really, I never really knew them, they died when I was four. And ever since I've been in and out of foster homes.  At around 11 years old I was with some foster parents and the neighbours were Becca and Isaac. That's how I was introduced to the rest of the gang and soon we became real close. Dani was a new one but liked her, which Sofia found really surprising because she said that I never like anyone. And I guess that's true I just have a habit of pushing people away. The doorbell suddenly rang pulling me out of my thoughts. I rolled my eyes, got up from the sofa and looked through the peep hole. It was Dani. What was she doing here? I swung the door open.

"Dani?" I said, confused.

"Lexie, have you seen my sister, Lauren?" she asked frantically. She looked like she'd just been crying and looked as if she would've started crying again.

"No I haven't. Why? What's wrong?" I said, trying to sound comforting but I was really no good at that kind of stuff.

"She's missing and I don't know where she is or what happened or-" she cried.

"Okay, calm down" I said, "Breathe."

After she was somewhat calmer she looked up, wiping a hand over her face.

"Ok, sorry, is Sofia home?" she asked.

"Yeah but she's taking a shower and I doubt she'd have known where your sister is anyway" I said, pointedly.

"Oh right, sorry, I forgot, you don't even know her" she sighed.

"Don't worry, I'm sure she'll turn up." I said after seeing her disappointed expression.

"Yeah..." she said, giving a weak smile, "Anyway thanks, I better go my sister's are waiting in the car and I think we're gonna drive further out to look for her."

"Okay, bye" I said as she turned away.

"Wait, Dan" I called, she turned and I went up to her and pulled her in to a hug. When I pulled back she seemed surprised, so did I to be fair. She smiled a genuine smile and walked off. I went back inside the apartment. I've only ever hugged Sofia before and maybe Kyle a few times. Dani was different. Just then Sofia comes into the room, a towel around her and her hair wet from the shower.

"Who was at the door?" she asked, plopping herself onto the sofa.

"Uh Dani actually" I said.

"Cimorelli?" she said confused, I nodded. "What did she need?"

"Actually, she was asking about her sister, Lauren I think?" I said "Apparently she's missing." Sofia froze in her spot.

"What, what do you know Sofia?" I quickly asked.

"I know where she is" she said, eyes wide. "But how is she not home yet she's been there for way too long, wait Becca didn't actually go through with it, did she?" she spoke aloud to herself.

"What are you talking about? Go through with what?" I said, massively confused. Sofia got up and went to the other room, shutting the door.  I knocked on the door.

"Sofia, Soph, what do you mean?" I shouted through the door. "Open up" I yelled. A few minutes later she emerged fully changed. She went over to the front door, shrugging on her leather jacket while I just watched her confused.

"What's going on?" I said.

"Come on, let's go, I'll tell you on the way" she said.

"WHERE?" I shouted, annoyed at her secrecy.

"To the cabin," Sofia said grabbing her keys, "That's where Lauren is."
