        "Philbert?"

        "Philbert?"

My Dad's voice snapped me back to reality. They were all looking at me as if waiting for me to answer.  I straightened my posture and my fakest smile. "Yes Dad?"

"Is there anything wrong?" Dad asked. I'd like to ask that to Apollo too.... I'd like to know what's wrong and why he's been treating me like this. One minute he's the sweetest, the next he'llbe cold and distant.

"Looks like something's bothering your daughter's thoughts." Cohen's Mom chuckled while looking at my dad. She looked back at me again with a sweet smile. "I sure hope you're not thinking of a boy, Philbert. Well if you are, I sure hope he's not like my son."

"Mom!" Cohen spat out like an angry little kid. Joe and her dad laughed at the exchange.

"Your son seems like an upright man?" Dad asked curiously.

Napasinghal ako sa narinig at halos matawa pero natutop ko ang bibig ko nang maalalang pamilya nga pala ni Cohen 'tong kasama ko. Pero nagulat ako kasi kahit sila nagsitawanan din. It was felt as if what dad said was a big joke. I for one can say that what he said was a joke

"Why? What's funny?" Dad said with a confused smile in his face.

"Robert, trust me. Upright is the most impossible word to describe my son." Cohen's Dad chuckled as he took a sip from his glass. "We know our son too well. We won't even think of introducing him to any fine young ladies we know, that includes you Philbert. My son may be good looking but you really don't want to be involved with him."

"Dad!" I heard Cohen spat out again.

Dad looked at me like he can't believe what he's hearing. He's really confused and by the looks of it, it's as if he's asking me if it's normal for Filipino parents to say such stuff. Natawa nalang ako. They're pretty honest and I like it.

"Hey! My Kuya Cohen is nice. Maybe he just needs a game changer? Right Ate Piper?" I was surprised as I looked at Joe. Her gorgeous eyes were sparkling as if she's really hopeful, the pretty smile on her face was charming me to agree.

I was a little bit surprised with how they acted. I mean they're quite sophisticated looking, Joe even looks like a freaking princess with her royal blue dress, but they seem too casual with their behavior. In parties like these most families are pretentious, they only show what they want others to see, but for the Cohen family it seems like what you see is what they truly are.

I nodded hesitantly and drifted my eyes towards their mom was seemed like she was waiting eagerly for my answer.

"People change." I smiled. "But sometimes, a jerk will always be a jerk." I added upon remembering all his lies.
