"Dad, is there something wrong?" I couldn't help but ask Dad as the bridal car was parked by the side of the church. Bumuntong-hininga kasi siya bigla and I know him, he does this whenever he's bothered by something.
"Everything about this is wrong." Dad said in a low and soft voice, like he doesn't want me to hear it but the at the same time, he wants me to know about it.
"You never said that before..." I couldn't help but say.
"Because I once stopped your sister and it costed her life..." Dad rubbed his palm on his eyes and I could see so much sadness in them. He couldn't even look at me.
"Dad it wasn't your fault. You were right about her boyfriend after all." Giit ko nalang.
"And whatever happens to Lorenzo wouldn't be your fault too, like how Perry's death was never your fault." Dad said, finally looking at me with his green sulken eyes. At that point I just wanted to cry and hug him. I want to go back to when I was just a kid, my family around me, and not a problem in the world. God! If only I could just be a kid again!
"Your friends told me about what Lorenzo did just for this wedding to continue, about how he almost killed himself and how he staged that kidnapping. Schatzi, you can't force yourself to marry a scumbag like him." Dad insisted.
"Dad, he's not a scumbag." giit ko.
"Well, your friends think otherwise as well." Dad said and pointed behind me. I turned around only to see all of my friends outside the car, even the cream team boys are there as well! They stood there as if we're in a standoff; like they're all preventing me from getting inside the church.
Lumapit patungo sa bintanang malapit sa akin sina Sawyer at Haji, kasama ang isang babaeng hindi ko kilala. She looked like she was in her mid-twenties just like us. She was wearing a dark grey dress but what caught attention was the sadness in her bloodshot eyes.
I rolled down the window since the door was still locked for me to open.
"Piper, hindi sapat ang isang sorry sa lahat ng pinaggagawa namin." Haji said and all I could see was regret in his face. "Desperado lang talaga ako ng mga panahong 'yon kasi..." Haji paused and turned around to glance at Braylee's direction, "Kasi akala ko may pag-asa ako sa kanya oras na may pagkakataon lang akong mas mapalapit sa kanya. At akala ko matutulungan ako ni Cohen."
"I know what we did to you and Apollo is unforgivable... but please, just don't marry Cohen. It's Apollo, it should be Apollo." giit naman ni Sawyer.
