Chapter Twelve-
"Get in the fucking house." The girl says, her eyebrows furrowing together.
I stare at her in shock, "Okay, okay." I calmly reply and step into the house with Regine.
The house is definently abondened, The paint chipping off, the stairs creeky, the wooden floors deceading slowly with age. I keep walking.
"Who are they?" A younger girl peeks her head out from the kitchen, her chest length brown hair glistening in the sunlight that's left.
"Some people I found out front. Sitting on the porch like a bunch of dumbasses. Nobody could have survived that horde without at least getting bit... they have to be bit. It's impossible if they aren't. I mean look at them... they're covered in guts and had all those supplies out front." The older girl replies, "Jamie just come here and help me inspect them.
"Jane.. come on..." Jamie whines.
Jane sneers at jamie, "We can't just let them go... I mean come on Jamie. Remember when Mom would drop us off at Alyssa's house and we would discuss everything about the zombie apocolypse. We knew this was gonna happen. We been training for this. We said, 'Never let anyone in unless you know they're safe'... we need to know if they're safe.. if they have more people, and if they were bit." Jane looks at me, "Do you have more people..?"
"..Yes." I reply, "I'm gonna be honest we have more people... but we aren't bad people. We wouldn't hurt you... they're on their way now... we would graciously accept you with open arms if you let us."
"Jane please." Jamie whimpers, "I need some food... and some water."
"We have some food and water outside... give her as much as she needs, and yourself too..." I say.
"Damn it, we'll even play hostage until you trust us." Regine implies.
Jane looks at us, "I'll be right back, Jamie... keep an eye on them." Jane exits the room.
"Who are you guys?" Jaime asks. She seems so innocent. Yet she can't be less than eighteen.
I sigh, "I'm Jerry... and this is Regine. We had to leave our grocery store once it got overrun by the horde... it was paradise there. All the food and drink you could imagine. Every supplies you needed... but.. it wasn't safe for long."
"...You guys had a whole grocery store to yourself?" She looks at us in astonishment.
Regine smiles at her, "Yeah.. it was great... hence the supplies outside... we're glad to give you as much as you want... and we have a whole group of about twenty people... we would be glad to add you and Jane to our group... we think we may have lost some on the way here..."
Jane re-enters the room with four water bottles and some apples, she gives one to me, Regine, herself, and Jamie.
"Jane they aren't bad people... and they're just kids. If they really were bad people they wouldn't have just surrendered with a gun in their hands right when you told them too... please. Just give them a break?" Jamie tries to coax Jane.
"How did you two get past that horde?.." Jane furrors her brow again and moves all her long hair to one shoulder.
"We rubs the guts on us... as camoflauge. Then we just sneaked through like we weren't even there.." I reply.
"How many others?" She asks again.
"About twenty." I reply.
Jamie crosses the room and sits down on an old couch, then defending us she says, "Please... Jane I swear. They aren't bad people.."
"I believe you... I'm sorry you guys. I'm Jane, and this is my younger sister Jamie." Jane introduces herself, switching her gun to her left hand and holding out her right.
I shake it graciously, "Apology accepted, I should apoligize for being on your territory earlier. I didn't mean to startle you... I'm Jerry."
"Regine." Regine smiles shaking Jane's hand.
"Nice to meet you two..." Jane sighs, "No biggie.. I seem to get a little paranoid in this time... but who doesn't anymore." Jane crosses the room and gives us two vitamins, "B-12.. helps with nutrition... these are gonna be important to survival." She says.
"You studied the zombie apocolypse too?" I furror my brows in curiosity.
Jane cracks a smile, "Did you?"
"Yeah. To be honest I kinda hoped it would happen. But now that I'm actually in the situation I wish I could take it back... but yeah. I did." I say.
"So did I.." Regine adds on.
"Understandable. When we are so passionate about something you can't help but hope it would happen because if it didn't... you studied all of this for nothing. But I guess it payed off and that means we're gonna be the ones to survive the longest." Jane smiles more.
"True." Jaime says cheerfully.
"NOOOOOOOOO!" I hear a startled shriek from outside. I run to the window.
"REGINE!" I scream.
"Oh god... they're back." Regine looks out the window in shock. "It's our people. One of them is being bit!"
I run outside and push the walker off of Jesse. He hold his neck in pain as of where he got bit. I stab the walker in the head with my long screwdriver.
"Jesse." I look at Jesse in shock.. all the time i've known him he's been so strong about so much.. now seeing him weak and vunerable is so taboo... but I have to keep him from turning... I slowly stick the screwdriver into Jesse's skull... and put him out of his misery.
"Jerry?" Jane comes up behind me.
"It may not be the best first impression.. I'm sorry." I apoligize to her.
My other people sprint up to us.
Andy pants, "Jerry!?" She shrieks.
"Andy.. this is Jane...
and Jane this is Andy and the rest of my people.." I introduce them.
"Welcome home.." Jane says. "Nice to meet you all."
