strange ring?

I opened my eyes on Wednesday morning with a smile on my face as my mother was sitting beside me, she was humming a beautiful tone and stroking my face.

Imagine her without hair.

I put my head on her lap hugging her stomach.

"Brielle called" she said after a few seconds.

"Mhmmm"

She laughed.

I got up and kissed her cheek "you seem happy today" I said with a huge grin hoping she was feeling better, she's always in so much pain.

"Yes im because it's a very Important occasion for me" I looked at her confused, did I again forget someone's birthday, again?

Mom showed me a small wooden box.

"What's is this" I said taking the box in my hand, it was really heavy for such a small box and had intricate gold designs carved on it.

"Open it"

I opened the box and my eyes widened seeing a big and several small delicate Sapphires nestled in a Black gold ring, I looked at my mother and she smiled.
