"Don't get lost in your pain, know that one day your pain will become your cure".

Sanam's POV

I woke up a little early as I'd be reporting at my part time job. I was a little apprehensive initially but after praying Fajr it was relieved to some extent. That moment I felt it was absolutely true that "Verily in the rememberance of Allah do hearts find peace."

We keep trying to find solace somewhere else when it is actually nearer to you than you ever imagined. The source and control lies with the creator.

After praying ,I walked into the shower and let the warm water pour over my body relaxing every bit it touched.I wrapped myself in a bath robe and stepped out.Standing there for what seemed like hours,I lazily rummaged through my cupboard.I wanted to find something presentable to wear as it would be my first day at the health centre. After what seemed like hours, my eyes landed on a purple dress.

I instantly liked that dress when I went out shopping for university with mom.But I didn't buy it as it was a little bit expensive and I didn't wish to burn a hole in her pocket.

Nevertheless mum caught my eyes and she bought it for me.She later told me that it was very unusual for me to like a bright dress. I would always end up buying boring colours like grey and black or a plain white dress.I paired up the long top with cream palazzos and wrapped a plain beige hijab around my head.I don't prefer to attract unnecessary attention by wearing something extravagant.

Last night I told Shaila about my new job.She was quite happy to hear about it but at the same time she was a little upset that she couldn't support the family financially.I cheered her up by reminding her of the many chores she does to help her out.

"You know what Shaila? You only need to work towards accomplishing your dream.Iam sure you will become an aeronautical engineer.Inshallah one day you will make us all proud!"I said encouragingly.

She zoned out for a moment when I was talking about her dream but when I clicked my fingers in front of her face ,she gave me a toothy grin and said "I love you so much Sanam, you are the best sis ever!" engulfing me in a bear hug.

I literally begged mom to take a day off today as she was still unwell but she wouldn't agree. So I rather called up the university and spoke to the principal about her condition. He sounded like a complete gentleman as he readily granted her an off without any leave application. Maybe all men are not bad!

Urwa had some function at her school so she bunked school and agreed to look after mom in our absence. As mom was unwell I helped Shaila with the breakfast. She made scrambled eggs and toast for mom.I prepared the only thing I could make-coffee.We arranged her breakfast in a medium tray and carried it to her room.

The master bedroom opposite the kitchen was the calmest place in our home.We were welcomed by mom's beautiful voice reciting Quran. She was deeply immersed in it but when I placed the coffee mugs on the table she noticed us.She made a gesture indicating us to sit.

-"But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you and Allah knows while you know not (2:216)".

I just loved the way it answered so many things.Every word in the Quran is so deep and so true. You can never find a book as wonderful , as unique as the Holy Quran!I have been reading the english translation from the past three years but every time I read an ayah I discover something new Subhanallah!
