Chapter fifteen: Emily

"Dakota!"

I woke up to Kaylee screaming. I looked over at her as she was standing next to my bed. I ignored her then pulled the blanket over my head.

After a moment, I felt the blanket being pulled off of me. "Get your ass up!"

"What?" I sat up quickly then rubbed my eyes. "Why are you screaming?"

"We're late for class!"

I looked at her then quickly grabbed my phone and saw the time. Shit. We were late for first class. I can't believe I slept in.

"Why didn't you wake me?" I asked as I stood up to get dressed.

"I slept in too. I forgot I slept here and I didn't set my alarm." She said as she was watching me. "Do you have anything for me to wear?"

I looked over at her as I was halfway in the closet. "Oh, so now you're being nice to me after you were just screaming at me?" I smiled at her. "But yeah, I do."

We both found something to wear and got ready. As I was brushing my teeth, Kaylee walked in and stood beside me to look in the mirror.

She smiled at me as I was brushing and I stopped to stare at her. "What?"

"How was your date? I kind of forgot as I was panicking this morning."

I chuckled then spit into the sink. I looked back up at her through the mirror and smiled. "It was amazing, Kaylee." I saw her smile and I couldn't help but think about last night.

"What happened? Where did you go? What did you do?"

I smiled at her questions. "We went downtown and ate ice cream then walked around and talked. We watched the sunset and it was just perfect."

"Holy shit, that sounds like a movie. Was is really that perfect?" She asked as she was staring at me.

I nod. "Yes." I thought about Emma and smiled.

"Lucky."

I laughed as we both walked out of the bathroom. We started walking out the door and I grabbed my keys before I walked out.

After I locked the door, I told Kaylee that I would see her at school. We got into our cars then left around the same time.

We were about thirty minutes late and I knew we were going to hear it as soon as we walked into the classroom. I just hope Emma wouldn't get mad and understand once I tell her the truth.

Although she told me not to let it happen again. I guess I will just have to face the consequences once we got there.

After we parked and started walking into the building, Kaylee kept asking about last night. I looked around to make sure nobody was listening and I looked over at her.

"Please shut up." I said as we rounded the corner.

She smiled. "I can't help it. I'm still shook."

"Shook?" I asked as we were approaching the door.

"You know," She said as we stopped outside the door. "Shooketh."

I stared at her until she rolled her eyes then opened the door. I followed in behind her and everyone was staring at us as we were walking over to our table.

I sat down then looked to the front of the classroom where Emma was and we made eye contact. I smiled at her but she shook her head.

Even though she looked a little upset, I caught a small smile as she turned towards her computer. I couldn't help but smile as she started talking.
