Chapter sixteen: Something isn't right

Friday came a lot sooner than I thought, and I was happy about that. Not only is it the weekend, but Emma and I have another date tonight.

We finally started texting each other and it was as if we were just two lovestruck teenagers.

Although we weren't in love but you could definitely tell we liked each other, a lot.

After classes were over, and our date wasn't until seven, I had plenty of time to just relax. When I got home and got into some comfy clothes, I heard a knock on my door. I opened it to see Will standing there.

I let him in and asked if he wanted anything. After he said no, we sat on the couch. "Sabrina and Carlos were playing Madden today and they actually scored."

I smiled as I sat my drink down. The other day when I went to Emma's, I came back pretty early and I promised Will a game of Madden.

It was fun as hell because I always beat him, and it kind of got my mind away from Emma and the whole daughter thing for a while.

I love staying over there because his mom is so inviting and she's super sweet. She's pretty much the best, except for my mom, and she'll do anything to make you feel at home.

I stayed over there for a few hours until I came back to do some work. I had finally texted Emma and asked her if she was ok.

She replied pretty quick and said everything was fine. Although I could tell she was lying, but didn't push any further since it wasn't my business.

Although I was still very curious and wanted to know the reason behind it.

"I had fun that night though." Will said as he was looking at me. "Even though you cheated, it was still fun."

I stared at him. "What? I did not cheat." I took a pillow and smacked him with it.

"Oh?" He said as he stared at me. "That's how it's going to be?" He grabbed another pillow and threw it at me, but luckily I ducked.

After a while, we both started laughing and I couldn't help but smile at him. "You're a great friend, Will."

"You are too, Dakota." He smiled back.

We sat there until I heard my phone go off. I look to see a text from Emma and smiled as she told me to be ready soon because she was on her way to pick me up.

I replied back then sat my phone down to see Will staring at me. "Who was that?"

"Nosy much?" I asked.

He smiled. "I just wanted to know who it was since you were smiling like an idiot."

Well, since I've been caught..

"My friend," I lied. "she's coming to pick me up."

He nods. "I didn't know you could smile like that when a friend texts you."

"You can. It doesn't mean anything." I said as I stood up to walk into the kitchen.

I heard Will follow soon after. "Ok, Dakota. Whatever you say." He leaned over the counter to watch me as I stood on the other side.

We stared at each other for a moment and it became a no blinking contest. I watched as he never took his eyes off of me, and not once did he blink until I accidentally did because I forgot what we were doing.

"You blinked." He smiled.

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever."

"So, tell me about your special friend."
