Waking up at Kaylee's house was pretty much like waking up in your own home. It was inviting because Jordan was cooking breakfast and you could literally smell it as soon as you open your eyes.

It was like the aroma would grab you and take you to the kitchen because that's exactly what happened.

I woke up then next thing I knew, I was in the kitchen sitting at the table while Jordan was in front of the stove cooking.

Kaylee sat in front of me and I smiled at her messy hair and tired look. She looked cute in the mornings, but she didn't seem like a morning person.

"How did you sleep last night, Dakota?" Jordan asks as she was at the stove.

I smiled at her. "I slept pretty good. Besides the fact I slept in a fort." I looked over at Kaylee as she was smiling.

"What?" Jordan looked towards us. "Kaylee, you slept in a fort?" Kaylee nodded towards her and Jordan shook her head. "Child, I don't know about you."

I smiled at Kaylee. "Me neither."

She glared at me and that's when I caught sight of Alexis walking in the kitchen. I watched as she walked over to Jordan and kissed her cheek then came to the table and sat down.

Jordan brought a plate over to the table and sat it down in the middle. It was breakfast burritos, and it looked so damn good.

After Jordan had sat down, we all started eating and was talking a little here and there. I liked being here because it made me feel happy.

Jordan seemed like a normal mom with a normal life. She was so chill and it was fun hanging around her.

I still can't understand why Kaylee said she was crazy.

Not once have I seen any signs of Jordan being like that. I could tell she was a little distant from time to time, but nothing too major like Kaylee was talking about.

After breakfast, I helped Jordan clean up. Although she told me I didn't have to, but I insisted because I didn't want her to do it all by herself.

Alexis and Kaylee had left the kitchen, so I knew they wouldn't do it.

"I'm really glad Kaylee met you." Jordan said as she was drying the dishes.

I looked over at her as she was smiling at me. "Really? Why?"

"She just hasn't really made friends for some reason, and I could tell she was a little upset about it for a while because she would come home after classes and go straight to her room. She wouldn't come out until it was dinner time, and it worried me." She laid a plate over on the counter then looked at me. "But that all changed when she met you."

I stared at her. "Really?" She nods. "So, I make her happy?"

"Extremely." She smiled. "I can't remember the last time she was happy. May have been at least ten years ago."

I stared at her as I couldn't believe it's been that long since Kaylee was actually happy.

"Do you mean, like genuinely happy? With life and everything?"

She nods. "I think she fell into a hole after Alexis and I had gotten a divorce." She placed a few cups over on the counter. "I'm not sure if that was the reason, but I really haven't seen her happy."

I looked towards the entrance of the kitchen then back at Jordan. "Can I ask you something?" She nods, so I continued. "Alexis told me that you and her were married?" I stared at her as she nods. "What happened?"
