       'Guy how far what you did today. It was not fresh, at all.' Fiyin said
getting to hostel.' Fiyin, can we not talk about girls tonight. I already have an headache.' Jidenna said like he knew what Fiyin was about saying ,' why won't you have headache when that one will come and be doing  "like". Sad girl' Fiyin said and Jidenna actually laughed. 'Just leave it Fiyin,' Jidenna said  lying flat on Fiyin's bed downbunk.' Ogbeni(mister),will you  lay that bed ehn' Fiyin said but Jidenna shrugged, smiling. 'What is bursting your head that you are smiling sef' Fiyin asked.' Me nothing ooh. I think tomorrow is somebody's birthday, can you remind me?' Jidenna said with a knowing smile and Fiyin hit him with a pillow blushing, it was Anulika's birthday' you are sick' Fiyin said while Jidenna laughed wriggling his brows.' What did you get her' Jidenna asked and Fiyin shrugged. 'Wait don't tell me. You're giving her bangs right.' Jidenna said with a broad smile and Fiyin shrugged again.' We'll hear the gist tomorrow, but who will you give the bangs to' Jidenna asked but Fiyin kept quiet' guy what are thinking about.'Jidenna said staring at Fiyin 'They are probably giving her one hell of a red night' Fiyin said and Jidenna rolled his eyes.' Will it be the first time. That's not what's bothering you.' Jidenna said raising a brow.' Fine,what if Joshua gives her bangs too and she doesn't accept mine or something.' Fiyin said.' Pls forget that one. How will she not accept it are you not more of her friend than Joshua,  I doubt Joshua even knows she likes him. Guy, dont stress. It Joshua you are worried about,you've forgotten Tobe,her actual boyfriend.' Jidenna said and Fiyin smiled.' I honestly dont know why she wont break up with him. She doesn't even like him.' Fiyin said smiling.' Why are you smiling like you're gay. Its creepy.' Jidenna irked and Fiyin laughed.' Oh,I thought you didn't want to talk about girls na. Jidenna you are much more of an idiot than me. It's Kaima you dont want to talk about abi.' Fiyin said and Jidenna rolled his eyes.' Go and have your bath joor, you are smelling' Jidenna laughed changing the subject. 'I cant wait to see your bangs for her' Jidenna heard Fiyin whisper as he went to the bathroom.

Kaima's pov

'Pls guys should stop it' Anulika complained as her roommates dumped different disgusting things on her body and beat her. Well I couldn't do anything because her birthday's  tomorrow. It was a tradition of Laurels students to make a person suffer the day before their birthday because of the way the mother suffered in labour before the person was born. Fortunately and unfortunately, the Red night ended when one of her room mates dumped a bucket of water in her while she was on her bed.' Seriously' Anulika complained but she was still laughing. 'Pele you should take a bath and wash your hair. Is that garri and detergent?' I asked checking her hair.' I don't understand why I have to go through red night. I was born through C.S sef' Anulika complained and I laughed.' Can I sleep on your bed with you. Thanks to Chioma, mine is so wet.' Anulika said frowning at Chioma who dumped the water and I nodded.
    Anulika and I kept gisting till midnight.' Oh it's twelve. Happy birthday Anu' I screamed and she hugged me laughing, then some people ran into my room' Happy Birthday Anulika' they chorused.' Thank you.' She said smiling broadly. Several notifications started showing on her phone.  Fiyin change his status to her picture with a Happy birthday to my slay queen. Jidenna sent a happy birthday along with several  others. The group chat icon also changed to her picture. She got a Happy birthday my sweetheart along with prayers from her parents and she was smiling broadly.' Let's get some sleep before we will be dosing tomorrow.' Anulika finally said after checking her messages.
   'Happy birthday girl' Jidenna said and hugged her when we got to class. He didn't even look at me which made me feel like those kids in kindergarten that will only follow you around on your birthday, to get cake. He gave her a card and a perfume in a small shopping bag. Thank you Jidey' she said and pecked his cheek while he smiled. If he treats his friends like this,  I wonder how  he will treat his girl. A lucky girl. Joshua drew me out of thought when he came in with a saxophone from the music lab and started playing, Happy birthday. It was wonderful.' Happy birthday Anulika.' Joshua said with a smile and Anulika blushed hard.' Thanks' she said smiling.' I better go and return the  saxophone to the music room before Mr Philip catches me. See you later.' Joshua said and left.'Happy birthday to  my wonderful fish.' Fiyin said coming  into the class with a large card.' Awwn tanx my adorable starfish, but where will I put this one now.' Anulika kissed his cheek and strangely, he turned red.
   'Hey, see how you are staring as like something I don't know.' I teased Anulika that evening before dinner.' Tobe didn't even say happy birthday. It's not like I'm pained or anything, but he's not even acting like a boyfriend, yet he doesn't want me to break up with him.' Anulika complained and she was right. Tobe was a terrible boyfriend. 'You should,so you and Joshua can start dating.' I said winking at her and she laughed,' see this girl ooh, just because Joshua said he likes me doesn't mean he wants to be my boyfriend. Besides I'm not sure about Fiyin' Anulika said.' You are more confused than an headless chicken in a fishpond.' I said shaking my head at her.'ahahn Kaima, how will you compare me to headless chicken, your imagination sef ehn' Anulika said and I laughed. 'Oh my. Anulika like Jidenna told me today is like your birthday' Esosa sasheyed to us like we were boys.' No,not like. Today is my birthday.' Anulika said with a smile.' K so like happy birthday. Oh and like hello Kaima' Esosa said in her fake accent and I faked a smile.' So you don't like her too' Anulika asked laughing immediately Esosa left and I told her what Jidenna did yesterday, ' are you serious. Jidenna isnt usually daft. Dont mind him joor but you don't like him so it will not do you abi.' Anulika smiled and I sighed. If only she knew.
   'Can you imagine this idiot. Telling me I'll regret breaking up with him' Anulika said after reading from her fone as we were heading to hostel. I cant believe they have prep only in the morning and before dinner.' Anu don't mind him and dont tell him ruin your birthday joor' I said and immediately we entered the hostel, Anulika was dragged away by her roommates to the hall where  morning devotions and announcements. 'What's going on.' I asked Theodora who happened to be next to me.'it's her bangs' Theodora said excitedly. 'Bangs?' I asked almost shouting because everybody was either murmuring, cheering or hitting cloth hangers against buckets.' Yeah,one a girls birthday, if her boyfriend or a boy who likes her packs up several gifts for her,we show everyone one by one and then read the romantic cards he writes while everybody cheers. It's ridiculous but it's cute and fun.' Theodora explained excitedly. 'Wow' I was speechless. Nothing like this happened in my former school mostly because there were no boys.' I know right it's more exciting because she has bangs from two boys.' Dora said and my eyes widened as one of Anulika's room mates climbed the podium with two big stylish shopping bag. Anulika was sitting on a chair on the podium looking confused but equally blushing.'one from Joshua and one from Fiyin. Can you imagine. Fiyin.' Theodora said. Oh my God...
