Chapter 67

        Kaima's POV

        Yeah, I was angry. Angry at Jidenna for beating the shit out of David. No , I wasn't suddenly in love with with David , hell  No. I could never say I'd leave Jidenna for him , He was definitely not the fourteen year old boy I had my first  crush on, he'd become one heck of a play boy. I knew it by the way he flirted with every girl he passed and touched some of them. But I was still angry that Jidenna embarrassed  me by fighting with another guy because of me. It was highly cliche that I would be impressed by something like that,  and he knew it. So I decided to follow the guys that helped David which coincidentally were the friends he came here with to have a birthday bash. I really wanted to check Jidenna nose  that was profusely bleeding but I knew I'd argue with him and I didn't want to  argue with him throughout the stay. It was annoying enough that I heard Esosa gossiping once that I wasn't fit for him and we didn't go a week without arguing .
      "Hey, Fiyin . Have you seen Jidenna this evening" I asked when I returned from the hostel about time for campfire. "Hes at the other end , there" Fiyin pointed to the area where Jidenna was sitting by himself staring at the wood staked for the fire. I walked  over the and sat on the sand beside him without saying a word making me him to turn and stare. " Kaima i..... im sorry about today" he finally said after what seemed like ten minutes, "hmm, are you now" I asked turning to look at him, his nose had stopped bleeding but it was still reddish purple and he held his chilled can soda to it from time to time.   "Come on, I'm real here.  I'm sorry I upset you. I know you don't like the whole damsel in distress stuff" He said with a small smile and I nodded. "Its fine, I'm sorry I overreacted too" I replied and he use his free hand to hold mine while smiling. "Yh,i knew you'd  be very mad but i still don't regret hitting that jerks face." He said almost quietly making me face palm myself " I thought you just said you're sorry" I said still staring at his probably now crooked nose that I wanted to ask about. "Yes i did, i am sorry for  upsetting you but definitely not hitting that asshole" Jidenna said with a smirk and I laughed. "Always so stubborn, any way how's your nose." I asked smoothly the tip of my finger over it. "Still hurt like a bitch. But Fiyin helped me set it hopefully" he said and I gently kissed the hip of his nose. "Actually you know he also scratched  my lips" Jidenna teases and I laughed punching his arm before he joined.

           It was exactly two days after the campfire night which was 10th of June, which meant only one thing. It was Jidenna Arinze-Collins birthday. I had been grinning since I woke up, and I'm sure everybody could tell but I didn't care. I whistled as I walked into the bathroom while Anulika laughed shaking her head. "Forget, see your excitement as its bursting, it's almost contagious. " Anulika said as I pulled on my blue checked shortsleeved shirt that I tied the ends to form a knot making the shirt more of a croptop then paired it with a white bomshort and white straw hat and sandals. "Lemme snap you joo. See babe" Anulika teased taking her mini camera out of her bag. She would find every possible opportunities  to use that thing. "Go away joo, , i need to go pick up something " I laughed picking my sling bag up. "Is it food, forget I'm already hungry,  I'll soon start getting  fat" Anulika sighed tearing open a pack of potato  chips. "Kinda, it's cake . I ordered it for Jidenna birthday and told them to bring it here" i said blushing while Anulika gave a mocking smile. "I'm sha sharing it, if you let Fiyin touch it ehn.." Anulika said while we went out holding a gift bag. "Yay, cake" Fiyin exclaimed as Anulika walked in to the lounge for eating and relaxing. "If you touch it ehn, la chai na la chaike (dog will bite your yansh) " Anulika said making me and some other people in the lounge that understand igbo to laugh while Fiyin shook his head murmuring "God have mercy ". "So where's  birthday boy" Anulika  asked no one in particular, "I dunno, Mr Jimi called him as we were leaving the beach house" Fiyin said trying to take a glimpse of the cake despite Anulika eagle eyes . "What did you get him," Fiyin asked me but I just smiled shrugging. "Hmmm, I'll still see it na. See this one" Fiyin grinned while Anu rolled her eyes. "Speak of the  birthday devil" Fiyin said as Jidenna walked into the lounge looking like eye candy.Anulika, Dora and some other girls from our school went to wish him happy birthday,  some like Anu handing him a gift, while some others like Esosa  hugging a little tighter than I liked to see. But I stood where I was waiting for my own special moments  with him. He look breathtaking as he  humbly appreciated everybody with his eyes roaming until they landed on me and gave me a huge smile.  "Hey, happy birthday" i said with a shy  smile hugging him before he held me close for a deep kiss if he was afraid to lose me, not that I was complaining.  "I got you this" I said handing him the gift bag I had for him that contained a white and black  cardigan, a pair of headphones and a carved hand bead.
       "Cake time ooo" Anulika shouted while we all celebrated Jidenna's birthday , we had sang, danced and toasted to Jidenna new age of legality,  some guys even pushed him into the water , we laughed so hard because of how scared he was of large bodies of water. "Are you enjoying your day" i asked Jidenna  sitting  beside in on the sand away from the partying and cake stuffing. "Yes babe I love it. Thank you for everything " he said and kissed me again while I laughed. "Ahem, hope im not interrupting.  Jidenna  your parents are here" mr Jimi walked up to us making me blush while Jidenna frowned, either because Mr Jimi interrupted  or because his parents were here.
       "Are your parents still here, I'm thinking of saying hi to my name "I asked when Jidenna finally  returned  about an hour later, i noticed his face was all red and so depressed which was so surprising to me,  would his parents upset him so much on his birthday. "Hey what's  wrong. Did  something  happen? What did your dad say" I asked gently touching his cheek as one tear dropped scaring me to a whole new level. "Kaima, I'm leaving" his voice came out hoarse and I was confused. "What are you talking about, leaving where" i asked hoping i didnt sound to panicky. A thousand Ideas  we're running  through  my head but I was still so lost until he said  "I'm going back to Canada. I got a full scholarship and they want an interview on Monday. I'm leaving and I don't think I'm coming back."
