Chapter 53

     Enjoyyy

  "Omo we go chop ooo" Fiyin said and I raised my head from my table where I had been dozing, after a double period of physics class , I had been a dozing mess. "Aww,  where's Jidenna" Anu asked grabbing the cake box from the junior who brought to the class. "Emm,  I dunno. Mr Jimi asked me to carry it here and give senior Kaima" the junior obviously intimidated by Anulika said and all of us shouted 'ehn' at the same time. "Abeg oo,  when did mr Jimi start buying cake for his students" Fiyin said eyeing the cake suspiciously.  "I just started mr Fiyinfoluwa besides today is equally my sister's birthday , so I brought a cake for both of them." Mr Jimi said coming into the class as if on cue while Fiyin snorted rolling his eyes.  " Happy birthday Kaima,  long life and prosperity. Now class we have Maths" Mr Jimi said and I nodded staring wearily at the cake. " Who got you a cake" Jidenna grinned at me immediately he entered the class and sat down peeking at the cake. "Mr Jimi oo, I dunno when he started buying cake for his students" Anulika chimed and immediately Jidenna's smile was replaced with a scrowl. " why the fuck is he getting you cake, that prick" Jidenna said irritated. "Jidenna,  you know it means nothing. Im not even going to touch it. Ill just ask Martha to share it for the class and my roommates" I said and he calmed down looking away and I pecked him earning a wide grin once again.
       "So did you enjoy your birthday" Jidenna asked me when he escorted me to my hostel after night classes, Unfortunately and fortunately,  social night was cancelled, but Jidenna got everyone to sing the birthday song when he was teaching the night class, "yeah, it was nice. You and Anulika and Fiyin made it the best" I said with a broad smile and he smiled back. "Em good night,  I guess. Im sorry , I didn't get you anything for your birthday. All this wasn't planned" he said shyly looking away referring to his confessing his feeling for me at the hospital. "Its fine seriously,  Good night" I said and pecked his cheek too shy to place a kiss on his lips. With that , I walked into the hostel ,smiling lightly that he was still watching me.

           "You enjoyed your birthday right" Tolani asked as I stood by my bed buttoning up my pyjamas shirt and I nodded with a smile. Trying to fall asleep, I heard shuffling of feet. I wasn't lights out yet but I was seriously tired. "Please can you keep it down" I grumbled with my eyes still closed. The shuffling stopped followed by a loud banging of the locker beside my bed. "Ahnahn,  what the fuck is ...." I growled opening my eyes to see the almost entire  ss3 female population standing in my room. "What the heck is. ." I asked Lota who was in front with a face splitting grin and I was just downright confused.  Then Lota stepped forward and placed a tiara on my head. "Wow thank you" I smiled but Anulika came from nowhere jumping on my bed with a pink n black box nearly squashing my legs in the process. "Why  would Lota get you a tiara, is she a lesbian ni" Anulika rolled her eyes whilst unziping the box as Lota pulled me off my bed and the banging of lockers started, and then it all dawned on me. "This is from Jidenna,"  I whispered in disbelief, "ding, ding, ding" Lota winked as tears stood at the edge of my eyes  then Beyoncé's ' brown skin girl' started playing from the back and I had to laugh
    First Anulika pulled out a huge furry white teddy bear with the words ' I love you  '  inscibed on the red heart heart which got awwing snd banging of lockers .
    "The card ooo"  everybody started shouting as Anulika finished pulling out the gift which had me speechless while Lota squealed along with the other girls . He definitely had all this carefully planned. The heart shaped chocolates, the beautiful dress that had me screaming too
Perfume, a gold necklace that had my name customised on it, a pink and black sweatshirt that had J❤K on it and I blushed as the girls started whistling. The other gifts were the makeup kit, a pair of sandals and a sketched picture of her laughing unaware and the tears dropped a little. "Guy save the tears, Jidenna that used to compose letters for oda boys on their babe's day" Dora said excitedly as Anulika pulled out the large birthday card from the box, "ahem, Oya I want to read it ooo.  ' I look back at us and I know for a fact that you were all I needed to truly feel complete. In such short while,  youve brought so much colour to my life and Its hard to keep track of all the joys that you bring. Sometimes I look at you  while youre unaware and  I think to myself ' how lucky I must be to have you in my life'. Chukwukaima, meeting you was fate, becoming friends was a chance I nearly lost but falling in love with you was beyond my control . Happy birthday m'ozim " Anulika finished the card and I was really sobbing happily as Lota hugged me and the other girls screamed singing and banging the lockers and some rushing forward to read the card again.  "Aww,  see my cry baby. " Anulika hugged me as we packed up the gift back after everybody had cleared. "I told you,  he was in love with you " she said and I blushed. "Did you enjoy your day. " Anulika asked as I was about to sleep and I giggled nodded staring at my new large teddy that was now wearing the tiara and giggled again smiling to sleep
