"Corin! You need to tell him!" pushed Gabby as we stood in the conference room.
"I know. I know!" I sighed, "I'm telling Boden today and then I'll tell him".
"I mean how has he not asked you?"
"Well when we went over the stuff I told him I was almost positive it wasn't his and we agreed just not to talk about it. I never told any of them that I got the paternity test" I explained, "And nobody at the house has asked me because I told everyone it was a false positive because I didn't want to deal with it all".
"You're a strange person, but an expert liar" chuckled Gabby, "Now go be a big girl.
I adjusted my shirt so the bump still wasn't visible and I walked into Boden's office. I knocked and he waved me in as I shut the door behind me.
"What can I help you with Evans?"
"I uhm".
Just then the bells went off. We both headed to the garage, not worrying about what I needed. I hopped into 81 and we took off. When we got to the scene the walls were licking with flames. This place was going to go soon.
"Who's all inside?" asked Kelly.
"A woman and her son" informed a bystander.
"Casey and I will take top floor, Evans and Cruz take the bottom. Go!" ordered Kelly.
Just like that we were off. Cruz was right behind me and when I realized nobody was on the floor I went to turn around and he was gone. I headed towards the door I came in through when a burning beam came crashing down on top of me. I tried to get out from under it, but it was too heavy. I grabbed my radio and pushed the button.
"It's Evans. I'm trapped on the first floor!" I cried but it came out in static.
I looked at my meter and that when the mask stopped working, I was out of air. My detector was beeping as I inhaled smoke. I tried the radio again but nothing was going through. I felt my eyes start to flicker and that's when I saw them. Casey and Severide ran over to me, both of them using all their strength to move the beam. I tried to get up, but I couldn't. That's when Kelly sweeped me up in his arms and hustled out of the house with Casey on his tail. Just as we made it a few feet from the house, the place flashed over.
Brett and Dawson came over with a gurney and Kelly sat me down on it. Brett handed me an oxygen mask as Gabby checked me for burns. My firefighter layers were all removed as I coughed again.
"Alright Corin, we need to get you to Med" stated Sylvie, but I waved my hand in protest.
"I'm fine, I just breathed in some smoke".
"Corin, you need to go".
"Sylvie I-"
"Shut up and sit your ass down on the gurney" cried Gabby, getting everyone's attention, "A beam fell on top of you, you're going to Med. You could have internal bleeding, you have an open wound on your side, you inhaled a ton of smoke, and you're pregnant. So think about your child".
I sighed realizing she was right. I sat back on the gurney as everyone watched me.
"You're right. Everything hurts" I admitted and Gabby wheeled me in the ambulance but before she shut the door I stopped her, "Kelly".
I stuck my hand out and stared at him. Gabby looked at him to. He knew what I was asking. He tossed his helmet to Casey before climbing in the ambulance with me. Sylvie shut the door and started driving to Med. Gabby was messing with machines in stuff as Kelly held my hand. My mind flashed Gabby and I's conversation earlier.

"He's been so distant since this whole baby thing. I didn't realize just how much he meant to me till he wasn't there" I sighed, sitting on dryer as Gabby loaded her close into the washer.
"Like you miss him?" asked Gabby as she poured in the detergent.
"Yeah. I mean he's constantly on my mind and when I see him I just want to cuddle into him and have him tell me everything's going to be okay".
"You're in love with him" stated a surprised Gabby.
"Yes okay, I'm in love with him and I have been for months. But he's Kelly, he doesn't want anything serious. So it doesn't really matter".
"Corin, you want to know why he's been distant since he found out?" began Gabby, shutting the washer lid, "The thought of you carrying another man's baby is probably killing him. Kelly's like a brother to me and he confides things in me, so when I say this, know it's true. He's in love with you, but he doesn't want to risk your friendship".
"He loves me?" I squeaked out.
"He loves you".

"Kelly I-"
I was cut off my his lips kissing mine. I broke away from home only to cough. He placed the oxygen back over my face and smiled at me.
"It's yours Kelly" I smiled in between coughs, "I'm pregnant with you're baby Kelly Severide".
"Thank God" he murmured before pressing a kiss to my forehead.
When we arrived at Med, they rolled me into a trauma room and Natalie came walking in. She inspected me for burns and got me set up on an oxygen mask. Kelly stood outside the room with Dawson while the rest of the crew was in the waiting room. Natalie had me roll over and looked at my bandaged side wound. I had been caught by a nail or something when I hit the ground.
"Well this isn't too bad. I'll just need to stitch it up and you'll be fine. But you're going to be in a lot of pain in your back from where the beam fell. You'll most likely have some big, defined bruises. Don't be alarmed by them, it's normal" explained Natalie.
"Ok. And uh when I fell I landed fell I hard on my front and then breathed in a lot of smoke..."
"The baby! Yes, I had Maggie bring in an ultrasound. Do you uh, do you want anyone in here?"
"Can he come in?"
Natalie waved Kelly in and he quickly came over to my bedside. He stood next to me, holding my hand and watching Natalie work.
"Are you okay?" he asked, looking at me with eyes full of concern.
"Just muscle pain, bruising, and stitches. She's checking the baby now".
Suddenly the sound of a strong heartbeat filled the room. I smiled and looked up at Kelly who had tears gathering in the corner of his eyes.
"The baby looks fine. No damage from the side wound, strong heartbeat. It's fine" explained Natalie with a grin, "and it looks like you're far enough along that I can tell you the gender of your little one if you'd like to know".
I looked at Kelly, raising my eyebrows in question of what he wanted to do.
"Whatever you wanna do babe" he answered.
"Yeah, we'd love to know" I answered , turning my attention back to Natalie.
"It looks like you're having a little girl. Congratulations".
"A mini version of you. She'll be perfect" smiled Kelly.
"You're going to be a great dad".
"And you're going to be an amazing mom".
