By some miracle, we weren't on shift for Thanksgiving. So we planned to do Thanksgiving dinner together at our place. Not everyone could make it, but Dawson, Casey, Cruz, Otis, Sylvie, Burgess, Natalie and Owen, and the Boden family were all coming. I took a deep breath as I cooked away in the kitchen while I heard people chatting in the living room right next door. As I was trying to take the turkey out of the oven, Donna walked in and stopped me.
"Oh sweetie let me help you" she stated, taking it out for me.
"Thanks" I smiled at her before moving over to set up something else.
"So, how's that little girl of yours doing?"
"Good. We're pretty much just playing the waiting game to see if I go to the hospital to be induced or if I go into labor before".
"When's your induction date?"
"December 4th...12 days away".
"Wow! Getting excited, nervous?"
"Both. I'm excited to meet her, but nervous because I know as soon as she's here the hard stuff starts".
"If anyone can get through this, it's you and Kelly".
"We've got a pretty good plan in place. I think we'll be just fine".
"Babe?" called Kelly as he peeked his head into the kitchen and then walked over to me.
"Hey baby. What's up?" I asked, mixing as he continued to walk towards me.
"Nothing" he stated before pressing a kiss to my cheek, "I just wanted to check on my girls".
"Well we're doing fine, I promise. I'm just tired, but that's normal lately".
"I know. Is there anything I can do to help?"
"Dinner is just about done. If you could set the table and then get everyone to sit that would be great".
"Of course".
He gave me another peck on the cheek before walking out. I shook my head with a little laugh. There weren't enough words to say how much I loved that man. I still couldn't believe we were together.
Kelly came back into the kitchen once everyone was seated and Donna went to sit down. The two of us served the food to the table before sitting at it ourselves. Sitting down was a pain in the ass with this bump, so I sat sideways with my legs crossed.
"Anybody want to say grace?" I asked and Natalie volunteered.
"Thank you for bringing us all here today to enjoy this wonderful meal Corin has cooked for us. We're so lucky to be able to be here today. Amen."
"Amen".
Then we dug in. People complimented how good the food was and it made me so happy. Everyone ate till they were stuffed before going back into the living room to chit chat. Matt and Gabby helped me bring all the dirty dishes into the kitchen. I picked up a heavy crockpot and Matt immediately took it away from me.
"You need to take it easy" Matt chuckled, "We don't need you to go into labor".
"Fair point" I replied with a chuckle.
Gabby went back to get more dishes while Matt helped me rinse and put them in the dishwasher.
"You know, I haven't seen Kelly this happy in such a long time" stated Matt, glancing up at me briefly.
"Really? I never really noticed" I responded.
"Because he was always happier around you. He's had a thing for you ever since you upstaged him on the first day you worked here".
