I had convinced Herrman to let us stop at Med on the way back from the parade check. We were supposed to be in it, but no one showed up. Everyone is terrified of catching this disease.
"How's she doing?" I asked Natalie, looking over at Amanda.
"She's still critical but she's stable which is a good thing for now," she informed me.
"Good. She's a strong girl."
"She is," smiled Natalie, "How's your head?"
"I've just had a killer headache. I'll be fine."
"Okay. Have you told Kelly about uh you know what?"
"Nope. I'm waiting for all this craziness to be over first."
"Fair enough."
Just then Matt's voice could be heard over my radio, "Corin we gotta go. CPD needs us to help evacuate a building."
"On my way," I replied, "Thanks Nat."
"Stay safe."
"You too!"
We headed to the building and immediately jumped into action. I helped guide people out of the building to safety. Just as we got the last few people out, I heard Jay was in the hostage situation. Since I was the only paramedic certified firefighter, I stayed in the building with the first aid kit to help the hostages and/or Jay.
"Corinthia, this is dangerous. If he someone set off that virus in a mass way..." began Kelly, clearly worried.
"Kelly, I'll be fine. Jay and I have just started being close friends again and I'm not going to let him lose his life to a lunatic," I stated, "Besides, I'm with Hank Voight. What could go wrong?"
I gave him a kiss on the cheek before heading up with the kit. PD was lined up against the wall, guns at the ready. I stood at the end of the line next to Will with the ambo bag thrown over my shoulder. Then we heard a gun shot before PD burst in, Hank immediately shot the doctor, leading to his deal. We all rushed in and I immediately went to Jay.
"You okay?" I asked, noticing that he had honestly been a little scared.
"Yeah. I'm-I'm good," he breathed out a little shakily.
I could hear his heart beating through his chest. That was the first time I had seen Jay truly scared. Will administered the cure to the infected man while I checked the others for injuries. We cleared Sylvie and Foster to come up and take the infected man while Kim called for a bus for the DOA. The others evacuated the other hostages while I bandages up Jay's arm in the hallway.
"That was pretty ballsy Halstead," I stared with a grin.
"Yeah and pretty stupid," he admitted, "If they had been here one second later I would have been infected. I think that's the first time on this job that I was actually afraid I was going to die."
"Well today is not that day. You'll just need to keep that bandaged for a few days until it heels itself. It's not deep enough to need stitches."
"Okay. Thank you, for all your help this week. I'm glad you weren't infected either."
"Yeah, that would have sucked," I chuckled, "But I'm good. I've just got other things to worry about now."
"And I'm sure you'll figure it. You're one of the toughest chicks I know," complimented Jay with a smile, "Now let's get the hell out of here."
"Agreed."

It was finally over. Kelly and I changed showered to get the grime of the day off of us before changing into our everyday clothes. It felt so nice to be clean after the shift we had. I put my dirty clothes in my bag and packed up my stuff before shutting my locker.
"You ready to go home?" asked Kelly, wrapping his arm around me.
"Yeah. I just want to see my baby girl," I sighed with a smile.
"You coming home right away?" Kelly turned and asked Matt as we walked out.
"I was thinking of picking up Chinese food on my way. You guys want anything?"
"Yeah that'd be great," I smiled.
Matt had me just text him what we wanted and he'd order it. The drive home felt like forever. All I wanted to do was cuddle my baby girl and tell Kelly the news. When we finally got home, I rushed inside, Kelly laughing at my excitement.
"Hi baby girl!" I cooed as Emily stood there with Ember in her arms.
The little girl squealed in excitement and began reaching for me, "Mama!"
"Hey pumpkin," I smiled, dropping my bag on the ground and taking her into my arms and kissing her on the forehead.
"Dada!" she cheered, pointing at Kelly as he appeared beside me.
"Hey princess!" he greeted.
"How was she?"
"Good. She just woke up from her nap about a half hour ago and we've been looking at books," informed Emily, "But she'll probably be hungry soon."
"Thank you so much. I know you were working a lot more than usual."
"Of course. Thank you for protecting our city," she grinned, "I'm going to leave you guys to have family time. Glad you're both safe."
"Thanks Emily. Drive safe," said Kelly as we both hugged her.
As she walked out, I moved over to the couch with Ember. She sat in my lap, facing me and pulling on my hair. At this point, I didn't care. I was so grateful to be able to have this moment with my little girl. A hit of nausea hit me, but I just pushed it down.
"You okay?" asked Kelly as he looked up from Ember from his spot next to me.
"Actually I have some news to tell you."
"Okay... what's up?"
"So you know how Natalie had to run my blood and stuff to clear me?"
"Yeah."
"Well my blood tests had a different result than she was expecting," I grinned, so he knew it wasn't bad news, "I'm pregnant."
His face lit up with that boyish grin that I fell in love with. He pulled me in for a hug, being careful not to squish Ember. Kelly picked her up from my laugh and held her in the hair.
"You're going to be a big sister Em!" he chuckled with excitement before sitting her down in his lap."
"We have our first ultrasound appointment tomorrow."
He pulled me in for a deep kiss, unable to stop smiling, "I love you so much. I can't wait to expand our little family.
"I love you too Kelly."
"Wow. I can't believe we're having another-"
"I'm home!" Matt called out as he walked in the door with two to-go bags, "Dinner has arrived."
"Awesome."
I walked over and began helping him unload the food on the kitchen island. Kelly stood up, holding Ember, unable to wipe the smile off his face.
"Why is Sev so happy?" questioned Matt, raising his eyebrow in suspicion.
Kelly looked at me with a pleading look, wanting to tell someone, so I caved, "Go ahead. He lives here so he's going to know anyway."
"What's going on?" asked Matt, looking from me to Kelly.
"We're having another baby," announced Kelly.
"Oh my god!" exclaimed Matt, hugging me, "Congratulations!"
"Thanks Matt. We're excited," I grinned.
"You guys are going to be great. You're already amazing parents to Ember. Even when things get rough."
"We're Severide's. We can get though anything."
