"I forgot how rough it is having a newborn," I groaned as I puttered around the house.
The nice part about it though was that Sylvie was coming over a lot because she was on maternity leave as well. She was looking rougher than me though, this being her first baby.
"I thought I was so prepared...I was not," Sylvie sighed as she sat down on the couch.
Her air was up in a messy bun, and her shirt was covered in baby spit up and drool. Purple bag tugged at her eyes and I can tell she was desperate for sleep. I could tell she was on the verge of tears she was so exhausted. Kinsley was fast asleep upstairs, but Londyn was still in her swing crying screaming.
"Okay. Why don't you go ahead and use my shower upstairs and you can take a nap in my bed. I just washed the sheets and bedding this morning so it's fresh. I've got Londyn, you go take care of you," I spoke to Sylvie as I scooped up the screaming little girl.
"Corin, you don't have to do that. I know you're tired too. I-"
"Sylvie, I'm fine. I can see you're on the brink and you need to take care of you before you take care of baby. I promise, I've got her. Okay?"
"You're my hero."
"Oh stop. Now go. Towels are in the extra closet and you can borrow pajamas from my dresser."
She gave me a hug, wiping away some stray tears before heading upstairs. I cradled Londyn in my arms and began walking and bouncing around trying to soothe her. I took the blanket and gently laid it over her face and kept moving. After about 20 minutes of crying and whimpering, she finally fell silent. I moved for another 10 minutes before checking to see she was officially asleep. I let out a sigh of relief as the beautiful sound of silence filled my ears. Carefully I sat down on the couch, enjoying it. When I made a move to set her down in the vibrating chair again, she began to whimper. Normally I'd just stick with the cry it out method, but I couldn't handle listening to anymore crying plus I didn't want her to wake up Sylvie or Kinsley.
I made sure to text Matt, telling him that since they had a 24 hour shift, I was gonna have Sylvie and Londyn stay with me tonight. He asked a few questions and I sent him a picture of his sleeping girl in my arms before he thanked me. Then I texted Kelly, letting him know the same before texting our nanny asking if she'd be available to pick up the kids for me. Thankfully she was so I didn't have to worry about packing up both newborns.
When the kids got dropped off, I warned them to be quieter because Aunt Sylvie was sleeping upstairs. They easily agreed and trotted off to their downstairs playroom. Both girls woke up at the same time to feed of course. I set Kinsley up on one side and Londyn on the other, having already discussed and okayed this with Sylvie. Once both girls were fed, Kinsley was up for a bit as well as Londyn and Kelly facetimed.
"Hey. How are my girls doing?" Kelly asked with a smile.
"Exhausted," I chuckled before propping the phone up on the coffee table so I could comfortably sit with both babies, "I just fed both girls and now they're both wanting to be held."
"That's right, you've got Londyn. That must be exhausting."
"Eh it's kinda like when we had the twins, but at least of got experience this time around. Plus it's worth it. I found out Sylvie has been having some anxiety and Londyn's had sleep issues, so the past three or four nights she's slept a TOTAL of four or five hours."
"Oh god. How is she even functioning."
"She wasn't, that's why I sent her to bed. She's been out for a little over three hours now and I'm sure she'll sleep until dinner. But she deserved it."
