"Announcing for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Severide" announced Atwater as we walked into Molly's.
I still had my wedding dress, but Kelly, Gabby, and other wedding part members had changed into something less "done up" which I didn't mind at all. Atwater began to play our first dance song, he offered to be the DJ for the night. Just then God Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts began to play and a smile spread across my face. This song described Kelly and I perfectly. We've gone through Hell before finally finding each other and falling in love.
My arms locked behind his neck as his settled on my waist. Together we swayed to the music, basking in our newlywed love. All eyes were on us all the way until the song ended. Then it was time for dinner. Everything was delicious. Then it came to be time for the cutting of the cake.
Everyone watched us as the forks carefully moved towards each others mouths. I got his in his mouth while he smeared mine on my cheek. I gasped in surprise before a smirk fell upon my face. I carefully reached down and grabbed a huge chunk of our piece of cake while he was still laughing at my face. I quickly picked it up and smeared it all over his face. I heard the photographer snapping pictures behind me while I laughed uncontrollably. He wiped the frosting off his eyes and nose before wiping his hand off on a napkin. I leaned forward and kissed him, riding his face of the rest of the cake. It was a moment I would never forget.
As soon as the cake was being served, it was time for the toasts. Gabby stood up first, clinking her glass to get everyone's attention.
"As you know, I'm Gabby, Corinthia's maid of honor. When I met Corinthia, we instantly became friends by bonding over the loss of our mutual best friend. I watched Corinthia and Kelly's friendship grow over the years and while they didn't realize it at the time, I knew they were meant to be more than friends. While the road to today may have been rough for the both of them, they finally made it. I can see how much love you two have for each other and for your little girl and it's the kind of love every couple hopes to have. I love you guys," she paused and smiled at me while I wiped tears from my face, "To the Severide's!"
I whispered I love you too as she sat back down beside me. A few seconds later, Matt stood up to give his best man speech.
"Well it's going to be tough to follow that up, but I'll try my best," he joked and we chuckled, "I've known Kelly for over ten years now and he's like a brother to me. We've been through the ups and downs and I'm lucky to have had him by my side throughout it all. Now, it's pretty common knowledge to most people here that Kelly was a huge player-"
"Thanks man," Kelly muttered, causing Matt to chuckle a bit before continuing.
"Even during his friendship with Corin, he was a player. Then came the day where Kelly strolled into my office and confessed that he was having feelings for the his best friend and roommate. I thought he was joking at first because Kelly was never the kind of guy to catch feelings. Commitment was never his thing. But once I thought about how those two acted together, I realized he was telling the truth. The never would have imagined that one day I'd be up here giving this speech at his wedding, but I'm so damn happy I am. The love you too share is like straight out of a movie and its been a hell of a ride watching you two get to this point. You're amazing parents and I know now you're going to be amazing spouses. I love you guys and can't wait to see what the future holds for you two."
Matt and Kelly bro hugged while I wiped away my tears yet again. After hugging Matt we made the announcement that the dance floor was now open. Our friends swarmed make shift dance floor as we pushed the tables out of the way. As our friends danced, I flashed Kelly a smile.
"I love you," I smiled.
"I love you too Mrs. Severide."
I know this is short, but I realized I hadn't updated in forever and writer's block was KILLING ME with this chapter. I hope you guys still enjoy :)
