A world without you

Chapter 33 - Hiccup's POV

I was more nervous than I should be. What would dad say when he would see mom? As Toothless reached the ground outside our house I saw how the door slowly opened. There stood my father with a big smile. I guessed that he hadn't seen mom on her dragon or Astrid up in the air on Stormfly.
"Hiccup! How are you?" He greeted happy and hugged me so tight that I almost couldn't breathe.
"I'm fine Dad." I sighed when he let go
"Actually i'm more than fine." I said and took a step backwards to mom and reached a hand out to help her of her dragon. She took it and when she was on the ground she looked up at dad with anxiety. Dad just looked at her as if he'd seen a ghost. Understandable but still. I backed a way a bit to give them some space.
The other riders were still in the air. Astrid as well. It was probably best to take one person returning from death at a time.
My mom cried and apologized over and over again but dad kept quiet until he finally just walked up to her and embraced her in a big hug. Mom tensed at first but quickly returned the hug. They stood so for a moment and then broke free but kept talking quietly.

After a short while my mom and dad turned to me and I greeted them in a family hug. My family felt for like the first time in many many years whole. But someone was missing.
"Dad that is not the only surprise..." I said mysteriously. I don't know why though
"I'm starting to like your surprises so bring it on son." Dad laughed with his arm around Mom.
I waved up towards the dragons and Stormfly came down with Astrid.
Once again my Dad was completely stunned to silence. I met Astrid on her way to us and took her hand.
"Everything alright?" I asked
"Yeah" She said and squeezed my hand a bit.
Dad broke from his spell when we reached them and gave Astrid a big hug.
"Now i'm really starting to think I'm dead." He said with tears in his eyes when he let go of her
"Welcome to the club." I said with a smile
