The days after the proposal was just full of telling people, kisses (between Hiccup and me), hugs from everyone, Valka and mom already planning the wedding, more kisses (once again between Hiccup and me), happiness and joy.
I can't say I was surprised when he asked, we had lost so much time together that we had learned not to take one single second together for granted. It felt right, after all we were adults and more in love than any beings possibly could be.
The moon was up. The stars shined down on Berk. Everything was silent. But I couldn't sleep. I laid in my bed trying really hard to just close my eyes and let the dreams take over but no I was to tired to fall asleep. Ugh.
I couldn't take this any longer. If I was going to get any sleep tonight I had to do something. So I took on my boots and went to Hiccup's hut. I silently opened his door and sneaked in. I didn't want to wake anyone up by knocking and plus it wasn't the first time any of us had sneaked over to the other because of sleeping problems.
As soon as I entered his but Toothless looked up at me and growled protectively.
"It's just me. It's just me." I reassured him whispering and pet his head. He yawned, never seen a dragon yawn before but sure, and went back to sleep.
I walked over to the bed where Hiccup laid peacefully sleeping. I gently shook his arm in a try to wake him up.
"Hiccup..." I whispered and he instantly opened his eyes and sat up
"Astrid? Are you okay? What happened?" He asked worried. I loved how he always woke up so quickly when he heard my voice and the first thing he thought of was to make sure I was alright. I loved that about him
"I'm fine. I just can't sleep." I explained
"Oh thank thor." He sighed
"Come here." He continued and moved over so I could lay down beside him. I laid down so I faced his green eyes.
"Everything okay?" He asked
"Yeah. Just having a hard time falling asleep." I yawned
"Well it sounds like the problem is fixed." He smiled
"Thanks to you. I love you." I said
"I love you too. You can always come to me anytime." He said.
"Good night Hiccup." I said half asleep
"Goodnight my love." He said and kissed my forehead before I finally drifted off to sleep.
