A world without you

Chapter 37 - Astrid's POV

It was the night before my wedding and I couldn't sleep. For once it wasn't because of my usual nightmares, instead it was the nerves about tomorrow. And the worst thing was that I couldn't sneak over to Hiccup's hut. Normally the others (and by that I mean Heather, Ruffnut, Valka and basically the whole village) wouldn't say anything about it but if we'd seen each other the night before the wedding. Oh my Thor the scolding we'd get.
So anyway here I was staring up at the ceiling hopelessly trying to fall asleep.

That's when I heard a knock on my window. At first I thought it was nothing else than my imagination but when I also heard a "psst" from outside I knew that someone was definitely outside my hut. I quickly grabbed my axe and carefully got closer to the window ready for a fight.
But outside was nothing else than the green eyes of my fiancé and his dragon. I sighed relieved and smiled at him.
"Couldn't sleep?" I asked
"No." He chuckled "So I decided to kidnap my wife to be."
"Really Hiccup?" I raised a brow questioning
"Yep. So come on." He smiled and gestured for me to follow him
"Why am I marrying you?" I sighed shaking my head but still smiling happily as I sneaked out the window.
"Cause you love me." He grinned
"Right. Lucky you. Otherwise you'd be dead by now." I walked up to him
"Lucky me." He said and kissed me lightly on the lips. Then he took a hold of my arm and helped me get up on Toothless.

As we rose in the sky I hugged him tightly from behind feeling the safety of being near him.
We silently floated in the night watching the sky. It was like a deep blue ocean with all our worlds histories written in small bright lights on it.
"Hiccup! Do you see that?" I suddenly exclaimed
"What?" He asked
"That star constellation. It looks like a dragon!" I said pointing at a few special stars.
"You're right. It does look like it." He nodded
"That's your story." I said to him. He turned around and looked me in the eyes
"Our story." He said
"Our story." I smiled.

We sat silently on Toothless as he flew in the night. But Hiccup broke the silence
"You know, someday when we're long gone our story will be forgotten." He stated thoughtful but I did not agree
"No. Because we will tell our story to our children and they'll tell it to their children and et cetera. Besides it's written in the stars and it'll be told in Valhalla for hundreds of years." I told him. He just looked at me with those loving green eyes and said
"I love you."
"Love you too." I replied
"Besides if you're worried you could always write a book. Like the book of dragons but a handbook in how to train your dragon instead." I continued. After that he had the look in his eyes that meant he were already planning something.

When they dropped me off outside my window I got off Toothless, petted him and thanked him for the ride then went to say goodnight to Hiccup. He looked at me like he thought I was going to kiss him. Instead I punched his arm.
"Hey!" He exclaimed surprised
"That's for kidnapping me." I said seriously
"Is it always gonna be like this?" He asked whining
"Absolutely." I smiled, kissed him and went inside but I could still hear him say;
"Can't wait."
