I dust the leaves and dirt off of my skirt.

"Why the hell would you shove me in a bush because of that?!"

"Because you never answered," he smirks, rocking back and forth on his heels. He sticks out his hand to help me up.

"You're an ass, did you know that?"

"I did," he laughs.

I grumble and start making my way back home.

He's following me.

"What do you want?!" I enrage.

"I'm invited to dinner, aren't I?"

I panic.

He cannot meet my mom. Shit, just okay it cool.

"Whatever I guess."

He walks beside me until we reach my house.

"Damn," he says in awe.

"What?"

"Your house is huge!"

"Yeah," I say nonchalantly.

I get my house key out and start to unlock the door. I fumble a little feeling Kaden's eyes upon me, but manage to open the large wooden door.

As we step into the foyer I cannot begin to explain the astonishment that rested amongst his face.

"You...live here?"

"Yeah..."

I jog up the stairs to my room forgetting about my guest and enter my room. The my bag arrives on my desk chair and I leap into bed.

"I like your room."

The sudden statement catches me off guard. No one other than my mom and I have been in my room.

Shit does it look presentable? I didn't know I would have a guest...

"It's just a room," I say with a nervous laugh.

"But it belongs to you. Making it special."

I'm sure if I should take this as a compliment or not so I decide to gesture him to a seat.

"So what are we having for dinner?" He asks.

"Well usually I just eat whatever when I get hungry," I say in my normal bored tone.

"You don't have family dinners?"

"No," I scoff, "that's absurd!"

"No it's not, it's what families do,"

"It's my mom and I, we are so far from a family," I try to explain.

"Oh well," he shakes his head.

"Why are you here?" I say flatly.

"We're friends, this is what friends do," he gestures around him.

"Friends?" I say in the most disgustedly confused tone.

"Yeah, I'm new and you're cool, and by these posters I see you like the bands I like," he says with a smile.

"No fucking way, you like every one of those bands?!" I say and point to the posters that lay above our heads. They're like the freaking gods.

"Hell yes, have you heard Truce by 21 Pilots?" He questions.

"Are you serious?" I say in a dead tone.

He looks intimidated. I poke his arm and laugh.

"I mean it's just so good I'm surprised you asked!" I laugh.

He joins in and I fall off the bed laughing.

"You're a little shit," I giggle, "but I like you."

He gives me a delighted smile and giggles a little.

"Shut up, you fajita!"

I think I'm going to like having this kid as a friend.
