Chapter Fifty-Five

(Kismet)

One last take and Namjoon is done with his first song. Namjoon had worked on it for three days, arranging and rearranging his verses and finding the right sample that would go along with the vibe of his lyrics.

Proud smiles from Suga, Jackson, and from Hoseok emitted through the energy of Namjoon's nervous body. Ecstasy and feelings of cloud 9 can be buzzing through him, so glad that he had finally finished a song. No more rapping in clubs. This was the real deal. The release of his mixtape can mean his recognition as a rookie or as a failure. How nerve-racking.

Suga taps a button and the music is gone. He's on his spinning chair, a beanie on his greasy hair. Suga spends most of his time here mixing things or helping rookie rappers with their mixtapes as well that he forgets to shower or even leave this room.

"Dope, man. This song is brilliant. It's gone make other Korean rappers shake their skinny bones," Hoseok exclaims, once again relaxing on the sofa that Suga keeps and never uses. Their frequent encounter makes it seem that Hoseok comes to therapy and Suga is the Psychologist.

Namjoon awkwardly laughs," That would actually be a compliment if I seem as a threat to them."

"Most of these rappers are show and no talk. I met some of them and they can't get their pride out of their asses. It'll serve them right to feel threatened by you. Maybe they'll start writing actual rap verses," Suga tells him, crossing his leg over the other and leaning on the counter.

Namjoon laughs again at the ridiculousness that Yoongi was spewing. There was some truth in what Suga was saying although Namjoon is sure there's a lot of things he could learn from them. Those rappers have experience, something he lacks in.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves," Namjoon tells both Hoseok and Suga who were confident in what they were saying.

Jackson who had been silent, and was in his phone as soon Hoseok began to speak, looks up, and says"The truth never lies." Jackson nods, closing his eyes as if what he said was wise.

"Okay. Anyways, thanks for listening to my first song of the mixtape. You are all the first to listen to it," Namjoon says, overwhelmed with their support, feeling lucky for having them all together.

'No problem' they all say, one beat after each other.

Twenty minutes later, Suga hands him an USB with the song so he could show the song to Seokjin. After all his friends, Namjoon wanted Seokjin to hear it next. Seokjin had always been there to support him, talking about his lyrics and how much they had meant to him. Showing Seokjin his first song would finally mean that he's pursuing his dream and having his family with him altogether.

The USB on his pocket felt light in a sense that his body felt lightweight, floating in happiness.

His music and the fact that he can be with his son altogether meant he could feel free. Visible. Unstoppable. Everything was aligning. Thanking Suga, he messaged Seokjin that he was going to pick up Seokjoon.

Hoseok had left first, his best friend picking him up. Hoseok had told him he had made plans with his best friend to go look at apartments; she was moving in with one of her friends and she wanted him to go as well.

Since Suga practically lived in his studio, he stayed inside while Jackson and Namjoon went outside to Namjoon's car.

Jackson was supposed to bring his child, but Gook-yoo had to take her to a doctors appointment to go get some of her vaccines. Namjoon was kind of bummed since he wanted all of them to bring their kids. Today they were meeting Zaharah and her kids.
