Chapter Seventy

(Kismet):

"Bullshit!" Seokjin screams, his eyes closing as he holds Amelia for dear life.

Namjoon sighs, turning away from Seokjin, slouching back on his leather seat. Namjoon isn't entirely lying. His mother is asking for him, but he somewhat did lie. Seokjin's mother is dying. She's currently in her death bed, gasping for air and wishing for Seokjin's presence.

But Namjoon doesn't want to add more agony to the current state Seokjin is currently in. Seokjin should be focusing on their daughter whose in the midst of being born. Namjoon knows this is selfish, but if he tells Seokjin his mom is dying Seokjin will withdraw from the present and this can gravely affect their daughter.

"Namjoon, please tell me the truth! Where is Sofia and my brothers," Seokjin pleads, his whimpers sending shivers down Namjoon's spine.

Namjoon is so reluctant to tell him. He really does. There's a part of him that wants to tell Seokjin, because it is his mother after all. And the other part, the one he's listening to, tells him to be quiet. None of this should be happening. Seokjin shouldn't be suffering any agonies today; he should be excited to see his daughter. And this latter part Namjoon is going to make sure happens.

Before Seokjin can scream another word, the door from the side of the driver is open and Hoseok enters, passing the diaper bag Namjoon requested earlier into his lap. Namjoon looks at him confused, his mind foggy from the thinking and distressing.

"Sofia is coming. I found her packing some stuff while I looked for the diaper bag, " Hoseok says, twisting his body to look at Seokjin. "Hold on tight, okay, Seokjin."

"She's here? Maybe she can tell me why my brothers aren't here, what was supposed to be my surprise baby shower," Seokjin says, shifting his seat with the help of Amelia.

Amelia is fairly quite, glancing at both of them, her facial expression unreadable. Namjoon wonders if Amelia knows if Seokjin's mother is dying too. Sofia certainly does. She had been the one to pull him from the party after he had stopped in front of the table of sweets to tell him that Taehyung and Jungkook were in the hospital with their mother. Her eyes had been frantic, solemn.

Namjoon wants to talk to her, to ask her how he should deal with Seokjin. How to deal with lying to his boyfriend. He had never lied before, not this seriously and badly. His heart is aching at the sight of Seokjin's state. He desperately wants to know about his mother, and for the sake of his breaking heart, Namjoon is making sure not tell him about it.

For one split second Amelia had look into his eyes, their eyes communicating that they both know. He wanted to ask if she did in fact, knew too, before she withdrew her contact with him and instead looked down on Seokjin. Their lost contact left him hopeless.

Namjoon sighs again. The moon was drawing nearer to the present sky. Silence prominently engulfs them as they sit in pensive thoughts. None of them dare to speak again in fear that one of them would tell Seokjin that his mother is dying.

That silence, where it served to think about their situation, was broken by the sound of the sliding door to Namjoon's right. Sofia is standing before Seokjin, her eyes brimming with tears and her hands reaching for Seokjin.

Upon seeing her, Namjoon sighs, his shoulders relaxing. Sofia was good at this. He can lie, but not her. She was an angel.

"Sofia, is my mother okay?" He reaches for her; her presence is as if she was saving him from drowning in a sea of gloomy thoughts. Amelia without saying anything moves to the back, all of their eyes waiting for Sofia's response.
