Chapter Forty Four
(Kismet)
How many more secrets can be kept from Namjoon, and then explode right in front of him as if it was only for his own protection. He paces back and forth, inside of Seokjin's room, peering through the window, and watching all the guests that were coming one by one like swarming ants.
First it was Seokjin. Hae-won. And now for the love of god, Jackson. His fucking best friend that had left him four years ago without explanation or a proper goodbye. He's an idiot for believing that there would be an end to the secrets and past dramas.
For a while he had forgotten about Seokjin keeping his son a secret. With time he learned to forget it about it. There was really no use, his mind would tell him. His only occupation in life would be to be there for Seokjoon, rather than use all his force to demean the father and lover that Seokjin is, and was, respectively.
He admits to all of the mistakes he did when he first arrived here. It took some time until he realized that Seokjin must of left him for a reason. A reason he still doesn't know because Seokjin hasn't had the nerve to tell him.
Namjoon is sure that If Seokjin would tell him the reason why he left then he can probably begin to fully understand he's reasoning behind an action that cost him his first years with his son.
Contemplating, and contemplating, yet there is no solid, concrete answer that extinguishes the fuel that is beginning to increase the flames of his burning heart.
"Can I have a talk with you," a voice that belongs to Jackson says, gentle and careful as if it'll brake the tension that they're both trying to keep cool.
"Four years too late. Go ahead, though," he bitterly says. He knows that that sounded petty, but at this point he doesn't give a fuck how his voice sounds.
Namjoon does all his best not to shout or cause a huge scene. He doesn't turn around to see Jackson in case he does do the worst and brings shame on this special occasion. Instead he looks ahead, Seokjoon running around with a little girl, his smile brighter than the sun.
He lightly smiles, a little tug on his heart brings him back to his senses. He clears his throat, getting rid of his cracking voice, and speaks to Jackson like a boy who is verily knowing what keeping secrets brings. " I don't understand why you deemed necessary to lie to me and act like it was for the best."
"I did want to tell you. But it wasn't my decision to make, which I have come to regret," Jackson explains, his voice closer and raspy.
Namjoon closes his eyes and signals for him to continue. Jackson does as he says and stops right in front of Namjoon. " Every day I was with you, it killed me to not be able to tell you so I left with this burden."
"And the burden was so great that you still had the audacity to keep seeing my son," Namjoon says, through gritted teeth. He averts his eyes from the window and turns around. Jackson is perplexed at the tone of his voice and the truth that had just been slapped to his face.
He was speechless while Namjoon was trying his best not to say obscene things to him. Jackson was going to say something again when Seokjin bursts in, closing the door and stopping just behind Jackson, his hands rubbing against each other.
"Namjoon," Seokjin begins, avoiding his eyes although he was still looking at his shirt, and takes in a huge, deep breath.
He lets it out and comes closer. " I know this is another shocking news to you, but I invited him because he's such an important person in our son's life. Jackson did you dirty, just as much as I did, I come to realize that; however, this is not entirely his fault. It is mine. He came to visit only because of Seokjoon. Seokjoon adores Jackson so please try to understand this," Seokjin begs, his hands already briefly brushing against Namjoon's.
