Tobias P.O.V.

Tonight is the night. Tris and my's first date. I just have this feeling that something will go wrong. I'm just not sure what it will be yet. She doesn't know about my past. I have a feeling it will have something to do with it. Like, my half borther, Eric. He and his best friend Peter were always figuring out things to mess up my life when I still lived with my dad and his wife. My mom left him when she found out about his afair with Jeanine Matthews. My father, Marcus, would beat me. He never touched Eric. I hope she doesn't find out about my real name.

Tobias.

I haven't heard that name since I still lived with the monster and his wife. I moved out the day I turned 18. My grandmother left me enough money to live like I'm living now until I'm 25 when she died. Marcus thought I blew it all the week after I got it. Eric doesn't know about it either. He would've stolen it and waste it on drugs or something.

I finish getting dressed and head out to my car. Tris and I agreed to meet there. When I pull up, I see Tris sitting in a booth by herself looking at her phone. I quickly look around and I don't see Eric or Marcus or anyone who I really care about.

"Hi, Tris," I say, walking towards the table.

"Hi, How are you?" she asks, getting up to hug me.

"Well, honestly, I have to pee. I will be right back," I say. She smiles and I walk towards the bathroom. As I step in, I think I see the waiter walk up to her table.

Tris P.O.V.

"Hello, Tris," I hear behind me. I turn around to see Eric walking up to me.

"Hi, Eric. Can I help you?" I ask. He slides into the booth across from me.

"Well, I just wanted to say that I was looking forward to tonight," he says, acting like I knw exactly what he's talking about.

"Eric, what are you talking about?" I ask.

"Tris! Did you forget about dinner with my wonderful family?" he asks.

"What are you talking about?" I repeat, hoping he can tell how annoyed I am.

"My mother, father, and I are coming to your house for dinner tonight. Didn't your parents tell you about that?" he asks, clearly satisfied that he is managing to ruin my date that really hasn't even started yet.

"Yes, they did. Now, will you go away? I'm here with a friend," I say.

"Why should I leave you alone?" he asks.

"Because she told you to," Four says, walking up behind me.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. But that still doesn't give me a reason," he says, standing up. He looks up at Four. He looks him in the eye as he says it, too.

"Yeah. I'm sure I could give you a reason, Eric," Four says, looking him in the eye, challenging him.

"Fine, I'll go. Bye, Tris," he says, then walks away.

"What was that all about?" Four asks, trying to sound casual. He slides into the seat across from me without removing his eyes from me.

"I, honestly, have no clue," I say.

"Oh, okay," he says. He stares at me for a couple more seconds than looks away at the door.

I hear the doorbell ring and I leave my room. Eric was right, Marcus and his family are coming over for dinner. After I left the diner, I drove home and my mom was in the kitchen preparing dinner. She told me that she got the call right after I left. When I walk into the living room, I see Marcus, Jeanine, and Eric sitting on the couch together. I sit down in a chair, next to my father and across from Caleb.

Everyone talks but I just sit there, pretending like I'm listening. I'm just consumed in my thoughts. The song kissed you by Gloriana runs through my head as I think about our date. As we walked out, Four stopped me in front of my car. He held my cheek in his hand and looked like he was about to kiss me but then he just rapped his arms around me and hugged me.

I sit here and the lyrics just continue to play in my head.

You couldn't see me
Watching through the window
Wondering what went wrong
Praying that you wouldn't go
You should have kissed me
You should have pushed me up against the wall
You should have kissed me
I was right on the edge and ready to fall

But only the verse is true. I know he isn't going to show up at my door and kiss me.

"So, How was your first week of school, Beatrice?" someone asks. I look up from my plate and see Marcus staring at me.

"Oh, um. It went good. Nothing too hard," I say, trying to close the conversation.

"Do you and Eric have any classes together?" my father asks.

"No. Unless, you count lunch," I say, staring at my food.

"Oh, well, that's a shame," my mother says. I simply nod and continue to eat my meal. Everyone else continues to talk. I just sit there. I push my fork around my plate, not even realizing the loud noices I was making. Everyone looks at me. Then, I realize I pushed all of my peas onto the table. I blush and scoop them into a napkin. I look up and everyone is staring at me. And then there is Eric is trying to contain a smile.

I ask to be excused and I run down to the basement. Soon, Caleb and Eric come down the steps. I moan but they come sit down on the long couch, too.

"So Beatrice, I guess you don't like peas," Eric says, releasing the laughter he managed to contain earlier.

"Yeah, whatever," I say. Caleb cuts on a video game and they start playing. I slip out to use the bathroom. I come out the door to the basement and the doorbell rings. I tell my father that I'll answer it and I hurry to open. Out on my front porch is Four. His forehead is shiny with sweat. I don't see his car in my drive way. He must have ran here.

Before I know, he has bent down and is kissing me. His kiss is like a key and it unlocks the chorus of a song.

So I turned off the car
Ran through the yard
Back to your front door
Before I could knock
You turned the lock
And met me on the front porch
And I kissed you
Goodnight
And now that I've kissed you
It's a good night good night baby goodnight

"Tobias, is that you?" I hear someone say.

Cliff hanger! Yay! I hope you have enjoyed my story. I'm sorry it has been almost a week since I updated. I've been busy with school! I already have had a ton of homework. I promise there will be more updates today. Or at least I will try to make at least another today.

Please leaves comments below! And I also would love some ideas for this story.
