"Caleb," I call. He gives me a strange look as he walks past my door. I grab his arm and pull him into my bedroom.
"Beatrice, what is going on?" he asks. I plop down on my bed. He sits down on my desk chair.
"I need to ask you an important question," I state.
"What is it?" he asks. I run to the door and glance out, making sure my parents aren't outside.
"What do you think mom and dad would do if you got a girl pregnant?" I ask. He gives me a confused look.
"I would never get a girl pregnant. I would never be that careless," he states.
"But if one of us were going to have a child. What do you think they would do?" I ask. He shrugs and squirts at me like he could read my mind or something.
"I don't know. They would be really upset. I wouldn't want to test it out," he says.
"Yeah. You're right," I say. He nods and stares me down.
"Why do you even want to know about that?" he asks. I shrug and pretend to pick at my fingernails. "You are not pregnant," the says. I bite my lip and raise my eyes to look at him. "You aren't you?"
"Caleb, you can't tell anyone. I have to figure out the right time to tell them," I say.
"Well, you might want to start packing your bags because when they find out you are out of here," he says before walking out the door.
