Have a lovely weekend.😘
TASNEEM
Aunty Hadiza didn't show up that night and I didn't even think of calling her to ask if everything is fine. Uncle Farouk called thrice asking after my health, whether I need anything. I answered in the negative as politely as I can.
Mamma forced me to eat dinner with them which I enjoyed very much, because we ate in the same plate. Something I love doing but never get the chance until Aunty Hadiza whenever Uncle Farouk is not around.
"Thanks for the delicious meal Mamma. Maryam should learn from you " I said long after dinner when Mamma is about to retire to her room for the day.
"You're welcome patient Tasneem. Forget this lazy good for nothing Maryam. I've over pampered her too much she only knows how to put food in her mouth instead of making it for herself and others " Mamma replied sticking her tongue out.
"Hahaha.... Very funny. Look at this old woman o! Who's teaching you how to make modern cuisines in this house? You only know how to make out dated meals that tastes like history itself " Maryam jibed back making me laugh.
"Ja'ira! This girl have no shame and that mouth that smells like pit latrine has no control when it comes to spewing words. You'll not kill me before my time Allah ya fiki. Good night Tasneem dear, make sure you take your drugs before going to bed" Mamma countered giving Maryam a knock on her head before finally walking out of the living room. I couldn't stop laughing at the duo.
"Your head will hurt if you don't shut up already. That old woman will miss me till she's bedridden with missing sickness. Yen Yen Yen just because you're here ba? I'll deal with her tomorrow " Maryam grumbled.
"I can't handle the both of you for a week. You two are too funny. How can you say such about each other? Mamma really raised you because by Allah your attitude is the same. Funny people with a heart of gold" I said in between fits of laughter.
"You nko? Grumpy girl with a heart of stone huh? By the way what's up with you and acting up earlier today? I hate to meddle Tasneem, but you really should stop taking insignificant things to heart. Never ever channel your anger to anyone except those who hurt you. I know it hurts and you won't be human if it doesn't, but you can't change what has already been written for you by the best of planners. Just keep praying in shaa Allah one day you'll look back and smile saying Alhamdulillah for going through what you're going through.
Aunty Hadiza should at least call to ask after your health if not for anything, Abba too, but let's give them the benefit of doubt okay? Besides aren't you happy that we get to spend some days together before we finally say goodbye?" She raised a brow in a playful manner and I nodded.
"Thank you Besty" I said after a few minutes of silence.
"You're always welcome Softy. Whatever you do just don't shut me off okay? "She warned.
"Okay hardy" I pouted hugging a small throw pillow to my chest.
My phone chimed indicating an incoming message.
I'm sorry for not calling my dear. Hope you're feeling much better and comfortable over there? Please be strong and prayerful. I love you.
I showed the message to Maryam and she smiled, giving me the I told you so kinda look. I quickly typed that I'm okay and I hope nothing serious is stopping her from coming before calling Naima who almost damaged my eardrums.
"You've rubbed off some of your craziness on her. Who on earth shouts this loud at a sick person? " I complained.
"Ohhh really? Thank God I have something to rub off on someone what about you? " she scoffed glaring at space. I shook my head in amusement. She never fail to entertain me.
