I don't really remember why G decided to tell me about her becoming an emo. It was quite touching though, and I was happy she decided to tell me about her past while the other two girls went to the bathroom. For some reason I thought she didn't like me.
"So, um," I cleared my throat and pushed some of my dyed tips behind my ear. "How did-or, um... what's your favorite color?"
Ginna never got to answer the question because Milla and Kali came back right then, Milla with a pissed off expression on her face. "We should leave."
That was strange. I guess it wouldn't be too weird though, considering Milla was always such a feisty and moody woman. "Okay, I can go start up the car, then."
Kali made a face at me as I walked by her with the keys. Something must be wrong, but I felt that it wasn't my place to ask right now.
I made my way through the adorable little ice cream shop, only stopping once I heard the loud, obnoxious giggle of a group of people.
They must have just caught me off guard, because I dropped my keys right in front of them.
"Klutz..."
Oh heck no. "Excuse me?" I turn around to look at the group of at least seven people my age, guys and girls, staring at me while trying to hold back a laugh.
The small girl with black hair in the center of her friend group puts her hands on her hips and stares at me in a challenging way. "Oh! Sorry! I said you look cute. I like your outfit. I didn't think anyone could pull off wet cloths and grimy hair, but here you are."
I fluffed my wet, flat hair. "Thank you." I mean, obviously I look great because I kill it on the daily. Who does this girl think she is?
That seemed to ruffle her feathers a bit. "Yeah... So you sound foreign. On vacation?"
"Nope," I popped the 'p'. "I live here. Moved in a while ago, don't really remember it all 'cause it's been a blur."
She crossed her arms. "Well I'm Violet. Maybe I'll see you around?" She gave me a fake smile. "Or not."
Fake ass bitch. I just don't understand how people can have hateful feelings and then be a completely different person towards someone's face. I put on a fake smile. "Yeah, of course! It was a pleasure. See ya, Violet!"
After I pass her and her friends, I roll my eyes and make my way outside to our truck.
It was practically dark now, meaning I'd have to drive home in the dark. I was super frightened in the dark, and couldn't see very well, so maybe I'd just have Kali drive.
I sent out a text to our group chat titled: Unstable Women. Huh. Someone must have changed it from the original name, Funky Bunch.
Nat: I started the car y'all. BTW who changed the group chat name??
G: funky bunch made me want to kill myself
Kali: same
Milla: We'll be right out
It wasn't long at all before the three girls jumped into the car, G talking to the other girls. "I just don't see why she had to come around here in the first place. It's bad enough that we already go to school with her."
"Who ya talkin' about?"
"Nat, stop trying to act oblivious," Kali began, "we all saw you drop your keys right in front of her and her friends."
"Real smooth, by the way," Milla laughed. "That's Violet Petrarch. Everyone had beef with her freshman year, and now that she's suddenly super pretty and popular, everyone has new opinions on her. Except she's still a huge bitch."
"She's dated almost as many guys as Calum has girls," G adds.
We make our way out of the parking lot. I wasn't sure about how to think about all the new information. I've never even seen her at school before, so that was good. Has she dated Luke before? If I start dating again, will the guy I date already have dated her?
I bring home Milla first, then G. Then it's just me and Kali.
We pull up to our gigantic beach house and I park in the driveway.
"Well..," Kali started. "Goodnight." She got out and went inside the house.
Ugh. It was not a good night.
